I have been thinking about this for almost a month now. I have submitted a 200 pages manuscript in a local love story publisher here in the Philippines. I have visited my mails almost everyday to get feedback because they tell me to follow up after a week. I got busy and then finally I got the result. The first paragraph is an apology, my heart sanked with disappointment when I learned that my manuscripts were returned, with so many explanations on why is it returned. Being a writer is one of my passion in life. In high school I was regarded as writer of the year, now I believe that I am a worst writer I can ever be because of that rejection slip. I just cant move on, I have so many manuscripts pending in my desktop that when I am prompted by my reminder in my cellphone to do chapter this and chapter that, I have no motivation to do it. I am so sad that I want to forget that I have talent in writing but not yet honed. How am I going to pursue something if at the start I am already lost?, And if, if the turn of events will be positive on me, how am I going to forget the pain? How am I going to move on and write again?...

1. You have to understand that you need to get rejection slips as part of being a writer. In fact, writers get rejected more than other people, who don't submit anything at all. You'll likely get rejected (insert large number here) times after this if you plan to continue on as a writer. Getting rejection slips is part of being a writer.

The best of writers receive rejection slips. It's part of being a writer. How to move on and write again? Pick up a pen and paper or sit down to your computer and just start. The mark of a true writer is that he/she writes whether anyone reads it or not and the mark of a successful writer is to get past the rejection slip and keep on keeping on.

I have heard that the first one is usually rejected. If they gave you comments as to why it was rejected, send it to another few companies. One company may not need a manuscript and just put down whatever small flaws they can find, others might like it but have suggestions for you. If you get back more rejections, don't fret. Just take all of the copies and the information the companies give you to help you with the manuscript, compare notes. For instance, if all of the companies say the third paragraph is weak, take the third paragraph, copy it word for word on a notepad, then without looking back at your manuscript, rewrite the paragraph, then read the first two paragraphs and then the new third one and see what you think, does it fit now? read the next two paragraphs, are they still making sense with the replacemebt of the third paragraph? Keep Reading for a little just to make sure it's still fitting in. Then go on to the next task, say it's "too many words that are alike" Kick out a thesaurus and put new words in... read that back through... Work on the manuscript, tweak it and then send it back in to the first company and wait. Just don't give up!
