Does anyone knows how to cure a dead thumb nail? I was riding a cab last week when im about to close the door i didnt notice that my thumb was still at the very edge of the cab door. When I slammed the door i just felt the pain run into my body. I saw my poor dead thumb in the cab door. I think this is the most stupid thing happened to me. How can someone didnt noticed it and just close the door. So so stupid. I was in a hurry that time cause im almost late for work. So please please if someone knew any cure about it or will it just heal naturally???

For me I don't cure it let it cure it self, the thing you can do now is to conceal it from public....

it will heal by its self... if it is still painful, you just take a pain reliever. don't attempt to be surgeon, coz you might get infected. it'll make things worse. just be careful next time. ok? :D

hi screwdriver ouch ouch ouch. wow that must have really hurt. You will have a poor ugly looking nail for awhile until the blood all absorbs away.if it puffs up or is more sore than you think it should be go to your doctor. most times its just a blood blister under the nail and will go away in time. take some ibuprofen for pain as needed and be careful.I like a dummy a couple of weeks back had three of my fingers resting on the front door sill of the goldcrest van when the driver pressed the remote to close the front door and there I was with three fingers trapped and pinching so dont think I did not yell and she rushed over to release my hand from the sliding door. wow, and the silly thing is outside of some roughted up skin I didnot have any broken bones. a very small amount of bruising but one of the other residents put his hand on my hurt fingers, sad something and the pain disappeared. I do not have the foggiest idea of just what he did but it healed my fingers, he is a very devout christian and sings in his church good luck on your thumb nail.

Hi, screwdriver. This had to have been very painful, I can see. I have bruised my thumb and fingers a good bit of times in my life. I have even missing hit my thumb into a frozen dinner plate. On the instructions, it told me to puncture the plastic with a knife. And instead of using a butter knife, I used my thumb. And so, when I did that my nail plate was bleeding from the inside. It was dark at the edges of my nail plate. This did not go away like that. The pain lasted for about a week and the blood did not dry all the way up until two to three weeks later. I was so mad at myself for doing something so silly as this. My husband told me that I should have just cooked the dinner plate just like it was, without removing the plastic. But this day, I was lazy and I wanted to take the easy way out. I have bruised myself up so many times. You could never tell that I had any accidents, because my skin has completely healed. There are no marks of any kind. It is something how I body works to heal. Yours will heal too. Hopefully, you did not have any broken bones. When in doubt, consult with a doctor just to make sure. I hope that your thumb will feel better very soon. Take care.

hi, oh my god, I used to do that to me once before and it hurt so bad... really bad. but it will over soon but the deal nail will be replace by the new one... but it takes time. just keep trim it and it will renew the new nail and skin back to normal. but now you have to deal with the pain. you can release the pressure by put a hole through the nail to release it. hope and it will be a lot better than u let it be.

I don't think there is anything you can do. It will probably turn black and blue and eventually it just grows till were you can start cutting it off. Sometimes the whole nail just falls of depending on how bad you hurt it.

The bad news is, your thumb nail will fall out, and hurt horribly when it does. The good news is that a new nail will replace it. It's just painful to get to that point.

hey dude look if it is very paining then at least to reduce the pain you can take a high dosed painkiller .......that can at least reduce the pain and then you can use some antiseptic over the wound because it will take some hard time to get well........ok man by by take care........

Ouch!!! If the nail is black or discoloured this will just be blood underneath the nail from where you have bruised it. As the nail heals it will start to produce some new cells, you will probably find that your first'new' nail will be a little bumpy, but will eventually grow back normally. If it is really painful ans swollen you may need your doctor to make a small hole in the nail to relieve the pressure. Take care, and me more careful around car doors!!!!

Hey I've had this happen to me , except it was my toenails. My toenails got too long at camp and my shoes we're too small , so the nails kept on bending and basically bruising the skin underneath the nails. We went for a 7hour hike. We crossed mountains , climbed rocky formations and in the end when I took my shoes off , I saw my white socks were red at the tips. When I took the socks off , the nails were all black. I clipped them off and after a long time. Like a year , my toenails were back to normal.

I have the same experience with you. It happen when i closed the gate. My toes trapped and injured one of my nail.I just leave it until it dry. Your nail will heal naturally by it self. But will not recover quickly. To become good, it took a long time. To prevent infection, you should give antiseptic or if you feel severe, go to the doctor to get treatment.
