Is there anyone that has ever tried to quit smoking cigarettes but just couldn't do it? I mean, I have quit for 2 weeks before and started back days after. I even stopped smoking for 6 days due to a hospitalization and started back the day after I was released. I heard that it's usually easy to quit during the second time around but this wasn't the case for me. anyone having a hard time quitting smoking?

I personally have not had this experience, but my cousin stopped smoking for 9 months(pregnancy) and then started back again. Then she was having another baby and stopped for ANOTHER 9 months, but started again :/

When the final exam come across,i would pick up my wallet and buy several bags of cigatettes and smoke badly. And when something difficult come to me,i also would like to use cigerettes to avoid the pressure.but for me,the cigerettes only appear on special occasions.i think to quit smoking is not a hard affair, what you need is just an unbreakable will and a strong heart.believe in yourself&cheer up~~~~

Hi lomns: This is not my case because I've never smoked and hopefully I'll never start smoking but I can understand you. In my case it's prety difficult to be on a dietand respect the discipline that it's necessary to don't go to a fast food restaurant. It's all about self discipline and we have to work on it. I think that, the more you work on it, it would be easier to say NO to this temptation. But as I have mentioned it's alll about self discipline and we need to learn to not give ourselves permition to smoke or to eat something that it's not good for us.

As far as I am concerned, I think it is not so difficult fo r me to quit smoking in my daily life. Though it may be a little difficult for us to just quit the smoke at the first momnet. But if you just try you best to quit smoke and have made the decision to quit it. Then just stick to it some long days. Then the smoke will be quited.

I believe that it'll not be that hard if you really really want to stop smoking. It's just a matter of self control and discipline. I smoked for more than 5 years when I was still in college, and decided to stop. I admit it was a bit difficult, but I still made it to quitting. I think if you decide to quit make sure that you're 101% sure of your decision.

YES! I've tried to quit several times. I've only been smoking a pack a day for about 2 years - not sure what set me off. But I've tried to quit several times - probably 4 or 5 "serious attempts" - all ending in failure. But I don't believe that people CAN'T quit, and that's why I haven't given up hope. It's all about willpower and resources. Get yourself some patches, and be determined as all hell and I think you can do it. Many people have. (I can't be a living example on this concept quite yet, but hopefully sometime soon).

Hello there lomns98, It is good that you're trying to quit smoking. I can understand how hard it is for you. To quit smoking is like to quit any other addiction. You must remember why you want to quit smoking and that should motivate you further to quit smoking. My husband is a smoker and he's addicted to smoking. I've talked to his doctor about medication for quitting smoking and even asked the doctor about hypnotherapy. But the doctor said that my husband has to want to quit because if he stops medication he'll go back to his old habit. Just like what happened to you. While you're hospitalized, you can not smoke but once released, you went back to smoking. You didn't find that motivation from within you to quit so you continue to smoke. I suggest you try to find that compelling motivation from within you and try and quit smoking. Many good things can be achieved when you quit smoking like having a healthy body and not always smelling like something burnt. Good luck. I hope you will stop smoking.

Hi, Usually a person takes 20-22 days to adapt a new habit or give up an old one. You didn't smoke for 2weeks which means that you dealt well with the withdrawal symptoms. People usually return to old habit because they can't stand those withdrawal phase. When you are giving up such a long running habit your body will react in a very strange way. In this phase your body is undergoing significant change and slowly becoming normal again. I have tried to quit so many times but its not the urge but the withdrawal symptoms that failed me again and again. But this time I am serious about it. I have already reduced my nicotine intake level to a very minimum amount. I am looking forward in quitting. What seems to be your problem is not the withdrawal symptom. Its just the habit that is coming back repeatedly. That can be easily stopped by changing your entire lifestyle, that is, not doing the same things in the same way as you used to do when you smoked. You will never know what will trigger your urge for smoking, so you should prevent those triggers from coming around you. I wish you the very best. God bless you

You know.. yeah it's true that smoking is a thing that can't be avoided that easy. Although I haven't tried smoking ever in my life. I can tell you the best way where you can stop smoking. My father have been smoking and drinking so much before. But you know what?? When my fahter knew God in his life.. It was automatically gone.. He accepted Christ in his life and believe in Him. You know. This is the best way.

its true.. i used to see people who are smoking but they want to quit but they can't. because they say they can't breath and relax without smoking.. i think its withdrawal syndrome because youre body used to have it, your body will function as if it will have it everyday.. so if your planning to start smoking think twice or you'll regret it for the rest of your life..
