I only check my blood pressure before tooth extraction from a dentist. Other than that, no monitoring whatsoever. I have to check it because of tendencies my blood pressure is low. I am such an anemic human being. If the problem of other people is high blood pressure, mine is the reverse,,, low blood pressure.

I don't have high blood pressure, but my parents have this problem. Besides taking the medicine regularly, they pay attention to the diet, too. Especially it is better not to eat salty food. It seems to be helpful for this healthy problem. I love China

I was having some problems a couple weeks ago. I was feeling really ill and I wasn't sure what the problem was, then I went to WalMart and I thought, well, I think I'm gonna check my blood pressure, yup, it was sky high. My mother bought me a blood pressure monitor to keep taking it, I did and eventually it go regulated again. It hasn't been bothering me at all now, although, I'm still checking it regularly. I'm thankful I have a great and loving mother!

I have close family that has high blood pressure, and they sometimes use one of those home blood pressure monitor's to keep track of there pressure too. I think its great that we have such devices like that available to help people keep track of there blood pressure, though right now my blood pressure is very good but I'm happy to know that if I ever need to monitor my blood pressure closely I could get one of those monitors.

One year where I worked we got a gift cert. and as we were getting older, decide to spend it on something both of us could use. I don't use mine as much for BP, but heart rate.

hi snowqueen what a sweet and thoughtful gift. My renal doctor several years back suggested I get one but haven't had the money yet for it but I know if would be a great help to me. I also have high blood pressure and am on three different medications for it too. My only worry would be having my blood pressure go up worrying about it showing high on my very own blood pressure monitor. I am a diabetic and am so glad that I have a glucose monitor. this is really a godsend.

Hi Hatley, The reason my dear sweet brother gave this gift is so what happen to him would not happen to me - You see, about three or so years, my brother was not taking him meds for Hight pb and he got very sick and had kidney failure and now his goes three times a week and sometime more to KD. And is on a list to get onto a list. Also we have a family history of diabetes and my mother had a glucose monitor and that helped a lot. Take care my friends and my prays are with and maybe one day you recive a bp monitor. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by and also I enjoyed our little chat. Snow

I don't have one because I don't have high blood pressure. I thank God for that. Nevertheless it's good to know in case I'm asked by anyone who has HBP. I'm not putting you down. Instead I thank you so much to bring it up here for everybody's info. I hope you would soon be cured of HBP. Blessings for you snowqueen.

Hi, I am also hypertensive. My blood pressure can shoot up to 220/150 (gosh it is really alarming). What is scary is that I just can't tell if my blood pressure is high or just average cause it makes no difference. My doctor told me that I am like a walking bomb, anytime I can explode. I have all my maintenance and proper medications however, it doesn't help me at all. Yes, somehow medicines can help reduced the blood pressure and somehow maintain my bp but maybe due to the nature of my job (always graveyard shift) and lack of discipline in terms of eating, and without exercise somehow my bp can't be managed anymore. I just can't quit may job yet because it is my only resource to sustain my medications along with my healthcare from my company. It is indeed wise for us to document and monitor our bp especially for those who have hypertension however, I don't have the luxury in doing it. I hope I can buy that bp monitoring tool (sorry don't know the term) to check my bp frequently. Thanks, stay and live healthy always.

taking care of your own health is always a good thing to do :) Remember to keep a record of your BMI as well, if you are a bit overweight. Keep the good work going!
