Hello! Are there Filipino nurses here in myLot? Please share your stories and information on how things are for you right now, working here and abroad. I would like to get more information and accurate info on the working conditions and plight of nurses working here and abroad. You can also share stories on how you got the nurse job of your dreams, the steps you took and how were able to cope as well. Thanks for sharing in advance. I plan to go back to Nursing too, so all the info I get here will help me prepare as well. Kudos!!!!

Hi! Most Filipino Nurses in our country are taken advantage of. Some of my friends had been a volunteer nurse for more than a year without payment. To go abroad, you need a year or more to be employed as a staff nurse to be employable abroad. Some agencies will hire you with less than 20,000 pesos (free amenities) to work as a Nurse in Jordan, Malaysia and other countries. This is not a good offer even if you don't have a good experience. There are many agencies that sends nurses with higher offer and package. Check POEA website for these agencies. Check if they are licensed and if they have good standing.

I can share story about my sister. She worked here in the Philippines for quite a long time before she got her chance to go abroad. She got married here and got a lot of kids before she got it. But comparing her life here as nurse and her stint abroad as nurse too. I can see a stark difference with the kind of life she is enjoying abroad. I can sense she has a better life there than when she worked here in the Philippines. She can afford many things there than here.

i am not a nurse, and i have never worked abroad. my only wish is for people to work here in our country and serve here. There are better opportunities, bigger money abroad - but is money just enough? Wish you would reconsider and work here in your own country, near your family.
