Is the show giving up on the current set of teens?

First Eden went to France, then we started seeing less and less of Noah, and now we've got a new Abby, aged to young adulthood. The new actress is definitely bringing a lively take to the role and looks comfortable in it already, but I don't like how they seem to be completely rewriting her personality...she doesn't seem like the same person who used to hang out with Noah and Eden any longer. She's not just being aged forward -- it's like the past is being rewritten too! I wonder what this means for the characters of Noah and Eden. I think the guy who plays Noah is the best actor of the trio (though I thought Vanessa Marano did a pretty decent job as a guest star on Medium), but one of Noah's closest relationships was with Abby (back when she was younger than him, that is) so this change will definitely affect the character in one way or another. It wouldn't surprise me if it is soon Kyle, Fenmore, and Summer's turn in the teen spotlight.

Noah went to France to be with Eden. They will probably show up in a year or so married and with child! The first Abby was just a nothing kind of person... whiney mostly, but definately no personality or point of being there. This one...they aged her mentally alot and even physically, but heck, at least they are making her do something, albeit stupid, but then again, she is a Newman! But look at it this way...is she acting any "better" than any of the adults? Basically she is just acting as she was raised. Act first, think later, and get proof only when you need to dig yourself out of the hole! I think I'd rather watch her antics than Victoria's. Can't that woman do anything else but get married? No wonder JT wants the baby away from her lifestyle!

I think the original Abby acted like a pretty typical teenager who had grown up in overprivileged surroundings. Sure, she could be whiny -- even snotty -- but she wasn't a bad person. She genuinely cared about Brad and Colleen and she was a good friend to Noah as well. The new Abby doesn't seem as caring or emotional...she's just "on the make" and ready to do anything to get what she wants, just like Victor!

I didn't have a problem with the "old" Abby. I think it is just they didn't give the character any kind of purpose for being there. THis new Abby should be fun tho. At least give old Victor a run for his money ....literally! I mean, did you see how he tried to place all the blame/fault for her actions on Ashley? And the only parenting he ever did was give her a million dollar horse! I hope they make her make Victor squirm real good!

I believe that they lost out a lot this year with not having a summer storyline that involved teens. I remember when the big storylines during the summer involved the teen characters- Danny,Lauren,Tracy,Cricket was one of the best summer storylines ever. It seems to draw in teens at home and summer storylines usually help to teach a good lessons to the teens. I would like to see Noah and Eden back and I would like to see Abby go back to being a teen, although spoiled, just seemed more like Ashley. However, this new Abby is older and much more like Victor and we all know that we do not need two Victor Newmans' in the area.

I actually first watched Y&R as a teen myself and I remember the summer storylines involving Billy, Mac, Brittany, Raul, etc...you make a really great point! It's too bad that the show isn't trying to keep up the tradition of having strong teen characters, but before long I guess there'll be another set eager to make their mark.

It looks that way. An older Noah will probably appear at some point. Vanessa Marano is going to be in a new prime time show starting this Summer on ABC.
