Hello Philippines's inhabitants. I'm very curious about your country, since I joined mylot. That because in all discussions I post and every discussion I find, I see Philippines who have written something in the forum. And I'm wondering, why is there so many Philippines here? I can't say the same for my country.. So I summon all Philippines to say something about your country, your traditions, your culture, your habits, your language, everything that crosses your mind, your problems, your history, etc... Let us the people from the other edge of the world know about you!

Hello dsplay5, I guess you already have absorbed too much information about our native land, the land of our birth, the Philippines that we love, that every foreigners love to visit. Since you are already rich in info about us, why don't you go down to our embassy and have your passport stamped with a visa and jump in to the first flight out? You will enjoy here, everybody, all of us is hospitable and will make your visit memorable. Try it, my friend from that other part of the Globe, you are welcome with our arms open wide.

Yes, I already know that you are very very hospitable people and your country is a very beautiful and hot place! I intend to come to you and to visit especially the Boracay (the most beautiful beaches on the Planet). I really want to go there one day and to try the "adobo, kare-kare and sinigang"... Do you see, I won't come unprepared. :D Thank you very much for the nice words you told me! I appreciate it. Happy Mylotting! :)

Hmmmm firstly, We are called Filipinos and not Philippines. Well, basically the Philippines is a nation with diverse cultures and dialects. From North to South different Filipinos speak different tongues. Filipinos though are mixed in origin coming from Malays, Indos, Chinese, Spanish and American. But why do I say that we do have Spanish and American origin? The Philippines was an old colony of these two great nations. Hence, inter marriages occurred and the blood lines mixed. Geography wise, It is situation above the equator and is part of SouthEast Asia. We have beautiful beaches and landscapes which most visitors admire and love. The only problem with this country is the poverty and corruption. I do not know why, but in my point of view, the only thing that the Philippine needs is discipline. It has been frustrating to see, the Philippines getting bad credit because of stupid things that people and government do. I think this is the only country that has 40% of its governing body that has actors, basketball players as its officials. I hope after the last elections, people voted for the good and used their brains.

Unbelievable 40% of the government is actors and basketball players, to laugh is the last thing I can do... However, I hope too that the people have chosen wisely this time. Interesting the most nations now mix the blood, and I think that soon there will no more be a pure nation.

Yes, but if the nations could beat the corruption, that would be greater than anything.

Yeah it is sad to see this. The first thing to make a nation great is not the government but its people. If the people do something the nation will be great.

Hello dsplay5, I believe the right term is Filipinos/ pinoys from the Philippines. wait a minute? why just Philippines? why can you invite other people from different countries? and what made you interested in the Philippines. Well, as far as i can tell politically, people are still divided and vulnerable to corruption. we have so many different languages but most people speak tagalog in luzon, bisaya in visayas area and marawi in mindanao (i think) but that's what i know. there's a lot of tourist spots here. just come by and visit. you won't regret it.

philippines is an archipelago which is is made up of 7107 islands, though not all are inhabited and a rich history, that may be the reason for having about 170 dialects, but we have only 8 major dialects. if you don't know how to speak the dialect of a certain place, you can use our major language the "pilipino" to communiacate. English is also considered a second language here. while in the southern part of the country, their dialect is much closer to the spanish language.

Thanks for the correction, I'll remember it. Why don't I invite other people from different countries, Why? I invite everyone, maybe I made a mistake that I wrote " all the Filipinos", however the Filipinos must know better than anyone else, that's why. And why am I interesting? The answer is: I'm curious and as I said, there are many Filipinos in mylot and I want to they tell me about themselves... I have been talking not once with Filipinos here and this makes me ask - who are they. Believe me, I didn't know where are the Philippines on the map of the world 10 hours ago.. And now I'm wondering how do these people understand each other from the one edge of the country to the other, with all these languages? Are the languages very different, are they common or what? Do they use some official language?

Hi there! I am a Filipino but currently I'm not in our country. Basically, the Philippines is composed of three major islands: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Among the three, my hometown is in the Visayas which is Cebu. Cebu is a well developed city and it is somehow known for the beautiful beaches surrounding it. The natives of Cebu are called Cebuanos and we speak Bisaya as our dialect and English as the medium of instructions in schools and universities. Mainly, the Philippines is a beautiful country. It has a tropical climate and it is rich of beautiful sceneries and natural resources. The Filipinos are very well known for their hospitality and their strong ties to their families.

As of this time it's not. It's in only in the fourth place. Manila tops the list. However, it is still the largest city over the whole Philippines and the oldest at the same time.

All of my Kababayans said it all! We have 7,107 islands and we have many dialects but we can understand each other because of Tagalog which is also Filipino our national Language and English. Many Filipinos are here because we understand English and many Filipinos are very fluent in English. Many have access to internet and we enjoy joining social networking sites like mylot, facebook and friendster.

Well Filipinos seem to love the internet and new technology. That is why when things like these site exist, they usually flocked together to air their side of things. I guess we Filipinos are also known as the texting capital of the world since we are the ones that has the most that embraced the texting technology when it was introduced in our country.

I'm really happy to hear that one nation is united and everyone follows the general idea. I can't say the same about my nation. We're not united, and that's the most important, to say we're a nation :(

Hey there. I am a Filipino but not living in my country. I am currently in Europe particularly in Switzerland. Well, what can I say about my country. It is an archiepelago which has thousands of Islands and does not have any neighboring countries where you can travel by land. Islands are of course surrounded by waters and Philippines is famous of having lots of beaches and resorts from the North to the South. Often, the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines can be found in the Visayas area where Cebu is located. The most famous one is called Boracay where majority of the people there were tourists both local and international. Philippines has varieties of cultures which we inherit from the Americans, Spanish and Japanese People since we were once a colony of this countries. Filipino people are known to be hospitable, close family ties, and regionalistic. I am proud to be a Filipino and I will always cherish the moment that I was born in that Land that I acquire the values I really treasure. I hope you can visit my country sometimes and able to discover our historical places. Good luck.

Come on! The Filipinos still believe in such things?! Nowadays? In my country, the generation of the mother of my grand mother was believing in these things last. I think that the people have to try to forget absolutely about these things, anyone everywhere, that's the best cure. What do you think?
