Personally I think 'diet' foods are an expensive rip off....

Weight Watcher Foods - Are these foods just a rip off?

... what do you think? I am referring to the @weight Watcher' type meals, snack, biscuits etc. These are all more expensive than other goods and in many occasions they are no better for you than other foods on the market. It is far better to create your own meals than boost the profits of these big comanys. What do you think?

Yes they are VERY expensive!!! And as you say they are no better for you than something you could make yourself. I think personally they are for lazy people! Yes a Weight Watcher ready meal is less in calories salt etc than a normal ready meal- but for someone like me who doesnt eat ready meals anyway, then a home made meal is going to be much healthier!!! The biscuits and chocolates etc, from what I have tasted are nasty and I would rather swap a biscuit for a ryvita with ELF cheese spread than eat the nasty tasting biscuits and sweets. Also you can buy Sula sugar free sweets for 80p for two boxes from Aldi- this is much cheaper than the Weight watcher sweets and they taste lovely! Weight Watchers just want to make money from people, same with Slim Fast!!!! There is a diet comupany, I dont rememebr their name now, who send you 3 meals a day plus a snack, to moniter your eating and to ensure you are getting the right meals without worrying about making them youself, but for ONE WEEK for ONE PERSON this is £40!!!!! We spend around £80 a month on food for two people, we'd spend that a WEEK on this diet if we were both to use it! How ridiculous!

Yes, I agree, it is all expensive. It is much cheaper to buy fresh veg, pasta, some Light Dairylea cheese triangles and make yourself a quick, healthy, filling meal that takes maybe 10 minutes.

I definitely agree. All natural is the way to go. After all, the things they put there have the same nutrition that you can find in nature plus everything else that we can't even pronounce. So eat natural and stay healthy lose some of the fats and sugar and you are well on your way.

Ooops, I'm going on the other side. I don't have the knowledge to do the all natural and have found the ingrediants to be more expensive. I also am the only one watching my intake, my husband has a high metabolism and is able to eat anything. If I overdue fats or carbs I gain weight. The weight watchers formula is easy for me to follow. I don't belong to weight watchers, just the formula. The formula is endorsed by the American Diabetes Association. I am not on meds yet, however, if I do not watch my intake, my A1C will go up and I will go on meds. You can eat weight watchers, lean cuisine, healthy choice, etc.

Try checking the stats on 'normal' foods, you will find in most cases that they are just the same as WW, granted they don't have the points on but they are easily worked out it is the calorie and sat fats that is important I'm diabetic too, if you want to take a look I have an easy diet plan ( that is endorsed by the diabetic society) it's free of charge www.oldchem.piczo.com Take a look, it may help you

Thank you for your suggestions. I do some cooking, and I do eat frozen vegetables. I eat a lot of chicken. I will look at the web site for ideas.

TexLadyPj: Try checking out recipes for 5 ingredients or less :) or even 3 ingredient recipes. They are a great starting point for those of us overwhelmed with eating natural foods. Though your husband doesn't gain weight and has a high metabolism he also can benefit from eating natural. Grilled chicken can be made in a matter of 10 minutes from frozen to table. Get out a fry pan and cook it up with some Light Italian Dressing, or some Ranch. There are literally hundreds of different recipes to try and they don't take any longer than a frozen dinner takes to cook. Add a simple frozen veggie and you have a healthy delicious dinner. Put some Mrs. Dash on the veggies and they are zazzed up too.

I definitely agree. Look for the least processed and least packaged foods and you will be in great shape. I am a fine one to talk. I guess I should add portion control to that equation.

Weight Watchers is certainly out to make a buck just as any business. They are also there to help. Everyone is free to take or leave what they wish. Some people love the convenience of the packaging with the WW points right on it and not having to prepare their own foods. I think a lot of people will also investigate in how to learn making their own natural foods as they learn more about nutrition and then will buy less of the frozen or boxed dinners. I don't subscribe to WW but I am exploring healthier eating. I am appalled by all the artificial items in food that I used to ingest. I am now content eating from simply the produce section and the meat section and cooking my own meats. Dairy I am still tossed up over. I love yogurt and milk and cheese....though I feel they are a bit too processed too. I just eat these in moderation. Eggs are my friend, I love those. Weight Watchers is a step in the right direction away from the Standard American Diet (SAD), though all natural is truly the way to go for optimal health AND weight loss.

Yes, I agree, they are very expensive. It works out cheaper just to buy fresh fruit and vegetables and create your own meal ideas! It's good to have some diet products out there for if you are out and need to grab a snack, though a lot of Weight Watchers desserts aren't vegetarian.

weight watchers carrot cake - Weight watchers carrot cakes are so good I could eat the whole box hehe.
I have heard a lot of people who have lost a lot of weight on the weight watchers program but I do not need to lose weight so I dont have any need to join the program. I do see the weight watchers food in the stores. Some looks so good that I buy it just to eat and I couldnt care less how many calories are in it. They are expensive you sure are right about that! I love the carrot creme cake they sell and the cookies!

Yeah it's true so If your a weight watcher don't focus on the foods that you will eat but on the discipline you will implement because if you don't have the discipline on eating so I guess you don't need to waste your time on dieting :))
