When you are reading a book-novel do you get lost in it? What I mean by this is when you are reading can you read when others are in the room talking or do you prefer to be by yourself? For me I prefer to be by myself becasue when I read I like to image myself there looking in. So I have to have quiteness so that I can concentrate. How about you?

I like to imagine I'm one of the characters, experiencing all the things as they see them. If my husband is reading, too, it's ok. But if he's watching tv, forget it.

When I read historical romance, I'm always the woman whose the main character. It's fun to imagine me rich, back in those times, doing without electricity, etc. I esp. like the paranormal romance where I can imagine having the powers these people possess. Like the ability to see ghoses was in one, the ability to see the future in bits and pieces, etc. Patricia Rice has some great books.

Indeed that does sound very interesting to be the charater. I bet that does something for your ego and it would make me feel on top of the world.

Wow, I never thought about imaging myself as one of the characters. I always imaged myself as being there on the outside looking in as I observe and study each character personality. I can relate to you regarding your spouse. For me it is extremly hard to read while the tv or really any other thing is on it is distracting to me. I guess I'm afradi I might miss something.

Reading in a quite place is so nice. You can easily concentrate on what you are reading. That is what I was doing before. Right now, I prefer reading in a very noisy place because I am testing myself if I can still concentrate despite the noise surrounding me. Actually, I can tolerate it right now.

That is good you are able to tolerate it. Maybe I should try that sometime. Maybe I could overcome that part and see if I would be able to concentrate. That seems like an excellent execrise to try.

That's great at least you have the ability to tune them out. I probably would be reading the same paragraph several times before comprehending it.

read or learn better done yourself because with the presence of others will only make you difficult to concentrate especially what if the person is talkative personally prefer to read alone because then I concentrate more easily than with any other person

Ok, it is good to know that I'm not alone we both need peace and quite when reading.
