Hi. I'm from the Philippines. I work at home as a media transcriber. My pay barely covers our household expenses. I would like to earn at least $2,000 a month as a ghostwriter. Is this possible? Has anybody done this?

Hi Blindmoongoddess, do you know anything about seo and writing articles for affiliate marketing? Many ghostwriters are earning more than $2,000 a month. However, these are the experienced ones who can write more than 20 articles a day, and stick very closely to the keyword density. The webmaster usually wants a set of 10 or 20 articles written with certain keywords. The article length is about 400 words, and keyword density about 2%. The difficulty is that most keywords are long-tailed keyword, such as "how to get your ex back". And you need to have 8 such sentences in the article. The average paying rate is 1 cent per word. The ghostwriter earns by writing in bulk of 10 or 20. At this rate, 10 articles of 400 words each mean an earning of $40. Most ghostwriters can complete the ten articles in less than two hours. You can sign up in Guru or Elance or Getafreelancer to get the writing assignment. You can also check out forums dot digitalpoint dot com for more information about copywriting.

Thank you for your suggestions and for all the information. I have been practicing. I actually have a blog with all my writing samples. Would it be a good idea for me to sell my articles with PLR?

Scheng has given the best response, but I will agree with her that it is possible. However, writing like that is also like factory work. You have to have a good production system to be able to generate enough articles. It will be a challenge, particularly in the beginning. I would say that you should have your eyes wide open, be prepared to work hard, perfect your system, and find a place that pays well and on time. There have been stories circulating on the Internet about people who have taken advantage of writers. Make sure you work with a reputable company. Good luck.

I think earning $2000 a month as a ghostwriter is possible, but it depends on a number of factors: - your writing skill - your writing experience - where you look for writing work - how much you value yourself and your work - how much time you have on your hands - how you market yourself - how much work you're willing to put in I'd say start off by breaking down your goal over the month. For e.g., if you can schedule to write 4 days a week, then in order to hit your $2000 target, you'd need to make $125 a day ($2000/16 days). If it's 5 days, then it's $100 a day and so on. Than, decide how many articles you can manage to write to make that $125. Obviously, the more you can charge per article, the less you'll need to write. If you start at $0.01 per word, then that's a lot of articles to get through to reach that goal. I've glanced at your blog and I really don't think your writing warrants that low an amount. Aim higher. Browse through the following sites (if you don't know of them already) for gigs that pay better: - FreelanceWritingGigs.com - AllFreelanceWriting.com - wahm.com/forum/wahms-who-write-46 (a mix of pay levels. Very supportive forum.) You can also read ChrisBlogging.com and RavensWriting.Blogspot.com for inspiration. I'm gonna bookmark your blog. Take care and good luck.

I have checked out the sites and the blogs you recommended (Raven's Writing can't be found). Thank you so much for all the information and for visiting and bookmarking my blog. I marked your comment as the best response because it has a lot of useful information. I can work four hours a day, five to six days a week as a ghostwriter. I can't give up my job yet, but I've been thinking about it. I'm the bread winner in our family and with my current job, I can barely make ends meet. I only make about $500-$600 a month. I have read that some ghostwriters earn way more than I do. I figured that $2,000 would be a realistic goal, but still, I wasn't sure which is why I started this discussion. Best of luck to you and take care, too.

You're welcome :-) Sorry - was my mistake - I missed a hyphen - it's Ravens-Writing.Blogspot.com. There's also FreelanceHomeWriter.Blogspot.com. Thanks re: best response. If you can, drop by the WAHM writing forum (often) not just for possible writing opps and support, but also because early every month, some of the members share how much they made in the previous month. Inspiring and encouraging. Have a great month. Rooting for you.

First of all I would like to commend you for earning $500-600 a month. That is already a big amount if you live here in the Philippines, especially if you are earning this through part-time. I'm sure in due time you will slowly increase your earnings. Just read articles and be more exposed online. There are a lot of good people here that will give you advices. I have read the previous responses and other members are so kind to share what they know. I myself am learning a lot from this discussion. I like it when they recommend sites where we can get useful information. By the way, have you tried submitting articles online, giving your earnings through page views? At least you will have added income while you do your ghostwriting tasks.

What a wonderful discussion, have been able to learn alot from you best response and i must say that you didn't make a wrong choice choosing that one. I will like to hear from you, have you started like you were told. I am very interested in getting to know your progress so i can emulate it. I can write and i would want anybody would could give some sites that will allow me as an international member of the site and would not bother so much about tax information they could just go ahead and deduct tax according to rates they do with U.S members. I can write, i know that and need some sites that will just allow me do that, i need to find gigs that are irrespective of where i am from or which country i reside in and just let me do what i am good at doing.
