Do you ever lie about your age?

June 3, 2010 4:40am CST
I would love to know when mylot lie about their age and when you tell the truth? and have you any funny stories about when you did either? My son was one of the youngest in his class so when the others had reached 18 he was still only 17 with a couple of months to go. Where I live everyone knows everyone so if the kids went in a pub here (more to meet than drink) he got served because everyone would think he was 18 as he was in the same class as so and so. He got caught out though when we said he could have an 18th birthday party there as he would either have to not have it there or admit he was only 17. Me I am under "old age" to everyone but if it is free or half price to "old age" I will admit it!!

We Chinese have two ways on calculate age, from your birth or from your mother's pregnancy. So for me, both 23 and 24 are truth. When i was a little child, I lied to the doctors when i was ill by reducing my age 1 or 2 so that less medicine would injected.

I never lie of my age..why what's wrong with it? as long as I did what I want to do in my life and I am happy who cares my age. But in your son' case he must told them about it because it not a suitable place for him and I am sure he is aware what's the rule; but I do understand him because I am sure he is very curious how it is, right?

I don't lie about my age and never have. I was 31 before the carding slowed down so it was pointless when I was younger to lie to get a drink or anything. It just never occured to me to lie about that. Now I had an aunt who was very beautiful. She lived with us and was like a big sister to me. She was a model and acted in plays on broadway. She was an amazing woman and I admired her so so much. She passed away a few years ago and do know that her age was different on her driver's licence than her birth cert. No one knew her real age and it seemed that even legal documents had been tampered with. It was so HER that we all kind of just laughed about it. Who else could have pulled it off.

If I was asked personally, no I don't lie about my age. I don't tell when I feel like not telling my true age to anyone. I think it is my right not to tell my age since it is a personal matter. I'd ask them why they need to know my age, or does it matter. But on forums like this, yes, I lie about my age. I think it's not that important.

i do not hesistate to hide my age.i am of the opinion that one should judge oneselves not by his age but by his maturity, experience.i believe that one can keep himself/herself young by keeping his mind and thoughts young.ofcourse age matters in many situations of life but other things mentioned can also be taken into consideration. have a great day full of youthness and happy mylotting.

No, I don't lie about my age. I don't really feel that I need to lie about my age. It's something that I've ever thought of doing, or anything like that.

i dont really lie about my each with similar reason in your story... but there are times that when people ask me for my age, they get shocked realizing im older than what they think... there was one time that somebody asked me for my age (i was 21 then) and i told him im 18, he wouldnt believe me so i told him im 16.. hahaha.. and he beleived... lol now, i sometimes say im still 18... or probably 20.. and they would beleive it still.. lol

So far I have not lied about my age. Probably, as you get older, you tend to be conscious of your age. And for the young ones, they tend to be excited to enter adulthood. There are many activities that are limited to minors. Hence due to their curiosity, they go to the point of lying and increasing their age. It is totally not good but it is very hard to control it. I guess, one way to reduce type of instance is for the local business such as pub, request for identification to their customers to prove that they are of right age.

I lie about my age. But only when i go to a club or bar. Im 22 and lets face it, women are picky usually about age. So if i tell a 26 year old hottie im 26, well look who just slyed his way in? Thats right, me.

When I was a teenager I did a lot, but I have no reason to anymore. I do forget how old I am sometimes though, which is sort of embarrassing.

this is quite funny..i did this once. hahaha. i reduced my age by 1 year. now that am at this age, it's really not for me to boast especially if am surrounded by younger people. i just dont like the look in their faces when they realize that i am 3-5 years older than them. when i was younger, i thought i'd stay that way. i thought that age is just a number. but now i feel that when you grow older, the younger generation projects this image that they are better, smarter in technology and a lot fit than you do.

im proud of my age even though im quite old already and im not that successful yet but then i already learned a lot of things with it. besides no one wants to believe if i tell them the truth coz i look younger than my age. when i was still younger like 16 i tried to apply for work but unfortunately they want 18 and above so i tried to lie about it and got the job i even submit a fake documents as requirements and they didnt notice it as i only stay for few months and i resigned coz i need to enroll for my course its only a summer job, theres a place here where we can have fake docs but its not advisable if you use it abroad or planning to stay long in the company you want to work with.

MAllen . I think lying is a bad thing and I try to speak the truth most of the time . But about the age thing , I had to lie for a purpose . And my situation is different the your son's . I am 16 you can say . I am a kid who was born on 1994 . I wanted to participate on football tournament and the cut-off age was 1995 . I had to lie about my age and eventually we won the tournament . But our opponents protested and asked for Original birth certificates . I got caught and I made promise that I will never lie about my age . It was a very shameful situation !
