blue screen of death in hp compaq 500

how to get rid of the blue screen of death in hp compaq 500 series,can anybode help me out please?i am getting this problem when i watch a video or listen to a song,the application stops automatically and i am asked to reboot my computer in windows 7

As much as I hate to say it, it could be problems with your RAM. http://www.memtest.org/download/4.10/memtest86+-4.10.iso.zip Download this, unzip it, burn the .iso to a cd, and boot to it on your hp. Let it run for a few hours. If it comes up with no errors, then it's probably one of the things the others mentioned. If it does have errors, that's your problem and the RAM needs replaced.

I think that you need to reinstall/repair your Windows and update your Media Player (if that is what you are using for videos/music). This process is really quite simple. You need to boot the machine from the Windows installation disk and select the option to Repair your Windows installation. The other way to go would be to install Winamp and disable Windows Media Player. Winamp is said to be better that WMP, anyway.
