Is being a homosexual destiny or a choice?

Homosexuality is still considered unacceptable in the society. In view of this, many are saying homosexuals chose to be the people they want to be. They say, they could be normal if they opted to. However, others say, they are destined and born as homosexuals.

Are people that ignorant to think that a person would choose to be homosexual in this society, if they didn't have to. People are born homosexual and that is the way it is. They know usually at a very young age that they are different but don't know what it is until they get older and realize. I only wish that people who were homopobics could walk a day in a life of a gay person and then maybe they would understand and accept. I'm not gay but I'm for love and peace for all people no matter who they are or who they love. I also believe that your comment that "homosexuality is still considered unacceptable in the society" is changing the tides a bit. There are just to many homosexuals in the world for this to continue. Hopefully one day it will not matter to anyone and I hope I get to see it. Life it to short for people to have to suffer all because of the person they love.

My uncle is gay and the whole family abandoned him except for my mother, because she loves her brother very much... Hope someday, they will accept my uncle as who he is and make him feel the love that he deserves before its too late...thanks for the response!

looking at it in a wider perspective, homosexuality is no longer taboo. over the decades, it has been accepted and a lot has become homosexuals. from what i read before, humans are born homosexuals. it's up to you to continually become one and be heterosexual.

it's as natural as being right or left handed. and affects the same percentage of the population. civilised societies are starting to become more accepting, but you do still get some people with backward views that think it's okay to discriminate. I don't think it's fair to say they could be "normal" they ARE normal. they couldn't be heterosexual if they tried, just as a heterosexual person couldn't decide to be gay.

I think that it's kind of both. There are people, who are born as homosexuals, they are attracted to the people of the same gender and can't help it. There are also some people who become homosexuals because of a situation. I mean, when they have some bad experience with people of the opposite gender or there just are no people of the opposite gender nearby.

We'll it's actually a hard decision when you're on that state but some says that sometimes genes runs in families that produces homosexual kids. but still its up to them to decide which they would chose.
