What makes you a good friend?

When we say we are someones friend what do we really mean? Is it that they are just our friend when they can help us or are they more than that? Well when i consider someone my friend i think of them as a part of my family not just someone who can help me when i'm in need but someone who can share in my almost every momment of my daily life. Someone i can count on through thick and thin, goods and bads, and someone that will hold no grudge or jealousy or even envy. A friend will be there with you to the end of lifes journey no matter what the circumstances may be!!!!!

Hi Sherbeauty,
To me a friend is not smeone who can help me but someone who I can be there for. When they need to share a problem or confidence I will listen. when they need a shoulder to cry on because they are down, I will be there for them. When they need someone to laugh and enjoy their happy times, I will be there for them too. Basically, I am there to support them through thick and thin and not be judgemental towards them, their thinking or their lifestyle.
If they are there to offer the same support back to me when I need it then I am grateful but I never expect it, as different people cope with different situations uniquely and some people find it hard to show or give support to someone in pain, suffering or grief.
No one can be perfect 100% of the time or at a friends beck and call, as we all have our own lives. but just knowing their is someone out there who thinks and cares about you is a friend for me.
The main thing is 'Friends we can choose. Family we have no choice.'

Yes friends you can choose but family comes with no choice and sometimes you wish you could have chosen your family especially when they make your life a living hell. But they are always there to catch when you fall no matter what the situation may be. Yes you also have some dear friend/s that will do the same for you as a family would. I can say i have some friends that are dearest to me and likewise i'm dearest to them.

I must first say thank you. I really have some nice friends that are there for me whether i need them yes or not and like wise i am for them. But i must say resently i discover that i really don't have friends who is willing to the extent i would go for them if i'm in their positions. But don't get me wrong they are good friends who will be there for me to a great extent but not as far i would go if i'm in their position. I believe that they are just afraid to take that step. I pray the lord will make away for me and i am patiently waiting.

Your writing is very nice. I am agree with you that we cannot choose our family but we can choose our friend. Therefore, we should be careful about choosing friends. I always try to be a good friend with my friend being a honest person and being a good listener. To me theses are two very vital things for being a good fried and I am also lucky that I have some friends whom I can tell my best friends.

Hi,
Its my unbiased love for all that makes me a good friend. Ordinary love only knows to possess whereas, philanthropy knows only to deliver. A good friend must be kind to all in a selfless way. Unfortunately I've not yet found that feelings being reciprocated. Thanks

Oh thats so awesome! Its nice to know that you have friends that really treasure your friendship so much. Especially when they let you know how appreciative they are. Nice work you guys keep it up.

For one, I am a good listener. I can give constructive suggestions. Also I can be handy and help out on chores if that is required.
I may not have much money but I am there by your side if you are my good friend.

That's ok being a friend don't need money if that friend really value your friendship. I know it would be nice to have money to help out your friends better but hey they will appreciate you for what you have to offer no matter how small a favour it be. Just keep on doing the good will and you will be happy always.

I consider myself to be a good friend to others. I hope that i am and it is not just in my head. I eill do anything i can to help a friend when they ate in need. If your need help with the anything, I like to be the one you call.

What makes me a good friend? I dont exactly know but I have so many friends. They are my friends and we have been friends for a long time but I really never asked them what they like about me as a friend. I think its because of my friends that made me a good friend because we accepted our differences and we were able to deal with our differences well that until now we still treasure each other.

When you are true to yourself and others will become attracted to you. Your personality is what says it all. So if you have alot of friends it means that you have a great personnality and you are true to yourself.

Whether i am good or bad, my friends can answer it better, i always help and guide my friends to the best possible extent, never loan money to them or borrow money from them..that probably makes me a good friend...

As you say thats your way and if your friend like you that way then thats great. I'm a little different i do lend money my friends and if i don't get it back i don't even bother to ask for it because i know the lord will bless me for that ki ndness i bestowed. I love helping my friends whether in cash or kind and they do the same for me. But like i said thats my way.

Hi Sherbeauty,
The friend within the man is that part of him which belongs to you and opens to you a door which never, perhaps, is opened to another. Such a friend is true, and all he says is true; and he loves you even if he hates you in other mansions of his heart. I follow this as a good friend to all my friends i love them!

I think I am a good friend because I am very loyal, I am always there for my friends, even in the middle of the night, if they need anything or just to talk. (But I expect the same thing in return, it is only fair, after all)
I am also considerate, and try to think of things they like to do when we meet and stuff, instead of just going for stuff I like myself..
