life is what we make it, or is it pre-destined?

do you believe that life is what we make of it? that it is us who authors our own life? or do you believe that our life is pre-ordained? that we are destined to become what we are today not by our making but because it is already written in the stars that we will become what we are now, no matter what happened and under any circumstances?
i used to believe that life is what we make it. However, as i grew older, i have observed that there are people who toils from dawn to night time yet, their way of life had not changed for the better, no matter how much they toil. and there are also people who doesn't even lift their fingers, yet they become rich and successful. i wonder now, is our fate already written in the stars that no matter what we will do in this life, we become only to the extent we had been destined to become?
how about you my fellow mylotters? what's your view on this?

I think it is 50/50. half of it is pre destined but we have a way to make it what we wanted to be.
Like for example, you are predestined to be poor but if you will fight for it, get out from shell and work hard, life will change, because you are determined to change it.
But if you just stay around and become stagnant and lazy the whole because you knew you are destined to be poor, nothing will happen to you. You will really live as poor as rat because your life is dependent on what is written the stars.
So, the conclusion is life is what we make it if we trust everything to God our actions.

life is as we make it but it is coupled with luck and with God's guidance from above. i think this is really a combination of all these things. that's what's life is all about.

Life is as we make it for those who toil.But there is an element of luck as despite our toil we aren't rewarded.It is this element of luck which makes a few of us successful with a little bit of luck.Some are lucky in the sense that they are born into rich and resourceful families making it easy for them to progress in life.

yeah, i guess there's that very elusive element of luck which spells the difference. it is probably what's pushing those who toils and become successful and those who toils and still lying in the quagmire of ordinary life, poverty, and the likes, they don't have it even a tiny little bit.

for me it depends when you considering your family background are your family belongs to the riches family ?i definitely sure you will lived fuller even without given sweat from working 24/7.second thought is that i believe that everyone makes their on destiny.the question is how they become successful?the answer is they working so hard they are so motivated to achieve their goals in life.our destiny lies on our hands which we make it.

I believe that we are the ones who are making our life. We are responsible for whatever outcome of our life will be. Even if our stars are saying that we will be rich and yet we don't do anything to achieve it, those stars are useless... So it is still in our own effort, in our actions. It is not only enough that we believe, we should also act. So we make our lives and not destiny.

Hmmm.. a very tacky subject. I believe it's a combination of the two but more of the part on us being the author. Seriously, do you think that everyday if you just go through life without ever taking the decision to do something, your life will change?
I personally think that we make our life happen. Life don't just come to you. If you don't do a thing about it, it will just pass you by. I think the best way to illustrate life would be river. Life itself is like a river. If you don't do a thing about life then you are like a rock in the river whereby you just let the river water pass you by. If you are one that goes with the flow of life, then you are like a piece of leaf in the river. However, if you are one who makes decision and then let life take you then you'll be like a boat in a river. Whereby you'll drift along if there are no other route but when the river is divided you'll choose which route to take.

Most of what life is predestined i suppose, no matter how hard you try you just dont get the things you have worked hard for - and this is true for most people i know, in real life! only in movies though it could turn out to be different. hahaha
Well, i would say about most of the time we could be doing a lot of things that could change our lives, but as i have said and as per my belief, we are destined to be the person we are today. just as some people are destined to be kings, and queens, and peasants. i am sure they did not do something for them to be born into such families right?

life is what we make it...and GOD only knows what will happen to us in the future days.
we all have been facing different lives nowadays and i think we would be happier if we have something to do to be happy. or sometimes GOD has planned better for us and bring some people to make us happy,without us knowing it. there were also cases like if we don't study we won't pass the test.
it's like the filipino saying "nasa DiYOS ang awa,nasa tao ang gawa"
if we don't make a move to do things we want to do,nothing will happen to us.
GOD has always plan something good for us,if we fail to something,i know GOD has designed something better for us.
it's also like "don't be sad if the doors will be closed,there's always a window that will be open for you", sounds like it. can you tell me the right words there?
