I think speed is important if you are doing lots and lots of downloading and uploading. For surfing you do not require much speed. What do you say? My speed is not more than 512 kpbs since I do no downloading.

for me downloading is not free in day time ....it is free only in the time 2am to 8am per day so i dont download anything while surfing so it gives me the maximum speed

I live in the United States.. They say my connection speed is 1.5 MB/s, but because it is DSL, it runs at varied speeds. The average is 160KB/s which is actually slow.

I am in the Philippines, and I am using a different kind of connection. Its under one of our mobile network and its wireless. I usually have the same connection speed such as your.. Though there are times that I reach 1.6 or 1.7. Although the network has promised a speed of 2mbps. But I am satisfied with my internet speed.

Hi, It sounds like you are using BSNL broadband connection. This is the wonderful thing about the said service provider. When you go for an inquiry and ask them about the connection speed, they will tell you 'up to 2mbps'. This is a bit tricky isn't it? The reality is that your internet connection never stays fixed during your browsing period. The best way to find out your internet connection speed is to download something and check out the download speed. Then this download speed multiplied by 8.33 is your connection speed. That means if you had a 2mbps connection, your stuffs would get downloaded in an approximate speed of 256kbps, which is incredible. I've never seen a BSNL connection giving its user that much speed for their download. Occasionally your download speed may reach that limit, but it is not going to stay like that for more than a minute. Thanks. God bless you
