What do you do when you have an important exam ?

2 days from now I have an important exam at school which will determine if I will follow a university or not. I didn't really studied for this exam and now it's to late to start reading something because I will totally forget everything. I will have an exam on literature on Monday, math on Wednesday and geography on Friday. Geography won't be a problem but I can't say the same thing about literature and math. I think I will only read what is important and start exercising on math just to get the minimum points to pass the exam. Time is crucial so I better not waste it. If you were in my position, what would you do ?

I can't learn much even if i have an important exam in 2 days. Usually i watch tv and go online and eat...hell i even clean whole flat just so i don't study. But when i do study i concentrate and spend 2-3 hours for it. It worked fine so far. I just hate that feeling when you know you should study but you have fun instead and there is this burden howering over you.

Yea doing something else rather then studying for your exam means you don't care. But from now on I'm trying to mobilize and never start studying in the last few days. The exam turned out to be good and I'm hopping to get a mark that's gonna pass me this exam.

I'll cross my fingers for you, it's not that i don't care, maybe i'd be too nervous if i'd put more effort in learning and would do worse than if i go there "relaxed" and do my best.

Hi 740 xing 740: Yes, I agree with you. Studying until midnight and even more is not a good idea because you'll feel tired on the day of your examination and this would make it even worst. At the same time, when people let the things for the last day, they don't catch everything and, at least for me, when I had to do this, I have experimented that this didn't help me because I forgot the things that I have study on the last hours. So, study hard during the last week will make you feel relaxed on your test day. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

i have gone through this situation a lot times....i think u should see the paper pattern ....how much marks to which chapter....just do that chapter which will pass u in exams but do them perfectly....if u will miss a single problem in exam then u r gone...u have 48 hours and anything can be done in 48 hours .......i usually dont sleep in this type of condition...maximumly 3 hours sleep is there for me in exam period because i study only in exam period.... happy mylotting

I don't agree with you, sleep is very important to help your brain remember what you have studied.

So you chose not to sleep to much, focus more on studying so that when your finished with the exam you will have your well deserved rest. It's not a bad plan but I don't think it will work for me.

I will study the best that I could. Its still 2 days before the exam. You can still learn a lot by studying in the remaining days. You can do it! Good luck.

Hi juggerogre: I think the same. When you are a student and you have discipline every single minute is precious. Then, you have to be organize, work with your notes and if your notes are not good enough then work with one of your friends that you know that he/ she dominates the subject. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

It's definitely not too late, start revising on the topics that you're pretty confident in and perhaps also touch on some that you're not so familiar with, you'll be surprised at how much goes in after a while, and the more times you look at something, the more easier it gets to understand it. I myself, don't understand everything by looking at it the first time, but even if it takes me to look at it 10 times or 20 times before I start to understand it, then so be it... If you still have 2 days, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain if you start revising, at least you will get some marks instead of zero. You don't want to look back with regret that you just couldn't be bothered at the time...Literature can be pretty easier if you're good at readfing between the lines, e.g. why things are written a certain way, why a part of dialogue was done a certain way - it is meant to represent something...with Maths, you can just about rely on some common sense to get you through, but do try to memorise a few of those formulas...! Good luck!! I have a Maths exam too on Tuesday :)

If I were you, I'll drink lots of coffee and I'll study hard the whole day, and I will study again the next day. I'll put a lot of effort, and of course, don't forget the "inspiration", because it is our only strength and our determination to live. And then I'll try my best not to forget everything for that one "inspiration". :D

Drinking coffee would be a great idea because it will help me focus on studying and enjoy it at the same time because I like drinking coffee. Thanks for the response !

Hi zel 2 zel: I agree with you and I also would like to add that, when you study in a comfortable area you'll feel encouraged for studying as long as it's necessary. So, for example, it's better not to sudy on your bed . Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

Two days is a decent amount of time so if I were you, I would study the subjects that I'm not confident in. Do you have some type of booklet that helps you study? If it is available and you don't own one, you can borrow a book from a friend or go see if it is in the library and then go study. I was in the library for days studying for my college exams.

I think I will go to the library and study. It's the best place where you can have some peace and quite and it determines you to study harder when you are surrounded by books/

I think you have procrastinated long enough. Get busy and study. Stop writing on this site and wasting even more time asking everyone else what to do. You know you should have studied long before now; yet, you continue to waste what little precious time you have left. Is that how you will work, too? Only doing the minimum? If so, I really would not want you working for me.

Hey pal, I know how you feel. I have a lot of times I feel like I won't make it since I start out very late. People tell us to start a few weeks in advance, and I start the weekend in advance (maximumly...). And I passed, so I'm sure you can do it. It's better to read the stuff you need to know 2 to 3 times than try to learn it. It's more effective that way (although for me). I'd try to work today as hard as possible, but it's best to take enough breaks (especially when you learned in afternoon). If not you can't make it long enough in the evenings. This works for me, I hope it does the same for you! All the best and good luck geo. (ps: did you get my answer to your mail because I didn't catch a reply?)

Basically I try to study as much as I possibly can. I'm not always successful and sometimes can't find the motivation to do it, but if I study little by little here and there, I normally retain enough to help me get a pretty good grade on the exam. There are some times when I have to pull all nighters which are basically caused by me having put off any kind of studying until the night before. If I've generally paid attention during the lectures, it tends to help. A lot of times I'll often try to study with a friend and basically cover what we think would logically be on the exam and cover the material we both think is most important.

To bad to hear this from you, I don't have problems with memory loss. I know there are some pills that helps your memory but I'm not sure if they really work.

Let don't give up,still there is enough time for you to go through your subject.if you really don't understand then get help from your friend or teacher, they might give you some tips that how to do.Don't be so nervous yourself,be confidence for what you do then naturally you can do it. You should never and ever lose you hope, aim at what you have expected to get.

Well i have these situations every night before the exams. I just sit down and try to mug up everything i can. I think you better concentrate on your literature and math as you may need studying in them. Just get hold of the summary points for each chapter and study. I guess that will have to do. Since you have so less time you just have to go through the main points and leave out the rest. I figure that maths might be a problem for you as that requires a lot of practice and not memorization. All the best!

I will study of course if there will be an exam at school. One way to pass the exam is to study of course. But I do have some friends who doesn't study even if there is a major exam.. they just rely on their stock knowledge.. they just scan their notes a few times, take the exam, and they pass. but for me, i prefer to study just to be ready because we don't know what will be the questions in the exam.

I guess if i were on your position, all that's got to do left is to cram and read all day. That's what i usually do with my major subjects. I always procrastinate so i always end up cramming which really is not good.

you should still read things bcs some people really have good memory sometimes is not about time you spend studying but about your skills also. and concentration too dont study and want do other thing at same time. you can also ask help for some of your friends that you know that understand well those subjects and they can explain you some thing you dont know well or give you some tips to memorize something easier^^ still dont worry much much bcs you can do it if you trust yourself^^
