would it be better if my lot also had a chat box to chat with friends?

I know you've already thrown your hands up but I wanted to give you just a bit more to think about. If we did have a chat box, it would be another area that would require moderation. Assuming the chat box would be available to members all the time, that would mean it would require moderation all the time, and the result of this would be adding more myLot staff. If we throw more money toward the management of this website, that's less we have to throw at you.

Hi, I think myLot should not include any chat facility here as that would seriously harm the quality of discussions here. We are here for these invaluable discussions. I am here because I have something to say to people, and I also have many things to know from the experts here. If I want some information or if I have some information of my own to share with friends, I will start a discussion. The discussion that will ensue will serve as a manual to that information. When people have problems with their computers all they have to do is to search for a related discussion and then if there is no discussion then throw a discussion of their own. We may all have access to that important document, we may all learn from it. Chatting is rather a private conversation, where only one or at most two persons get benefited. If people want to know something, they will just chat with each other. Not all the members will have access to that valuable information. This will also decrease the number of participations and it will eliminate the knowledge-base aspect of myLot. If someone wants have private conversation there is the message facility. All you have to do is that you have to refresh the page after 3-4 minutes. Thanks. God bless you

If you visit some of the discussions you will see that they are more like chat (conferencing) sessions and what goes on has nothing to do with the discussions per se. You too can do that! Why have a separate one?

Well, I have thought about it before. Actually I agree with you but some of our friends didn't agree with this idea. They said that if we want to chat with other member, we can use private message feature. The others said that chat will bother them in make post. I think they all right about this point. I think, if mylot add feature that we can know our friends online will be nice. We can use private message facility to chat with our friends since we know they are online so, our communication would be real-time.

If I'm not mistaken, I think one of the reasons why Mylot hasn't incorporated a chat into their Web site is because of the fear that users will not be as productive on Mylot, therefore not posting in threads or commenting on other threads as often as they do now. I'm pretty sure someone else mentioned about a chatbox to be placed here on Mylot. In a way I can see both sides of the argument. If I were to make a suggestion for a chat box, here is how I would do it. ~ Chat box users must be have a minimum post count of 300 on mylot. Chat box users must respond to a post four times a week with a substantive post of one paragraph in order to use the chat box. Members who abuse this system will have their chat box privileges denied The chatbox is designed to speak to several people at once, and all members who use the chat box should adhere to the rules and respect other members. Members must sign an agreement stating they have read the rules of the chat box and will therefore abide by them. ~ But it is up to mylot admins whether or not to incorporate a chat box here.

Hi frozenphoenix, i think this site is like chat (sending PM / discuss / response / comments and earn. Chat, i think you can do by sending PM to your friends. I hope if they start chat box then concentration will not be there on the discussions. While responding to the discussion we should be keen on the subject matter otherwise you may not do justification to your responses.

I agree. Mylot would be more accesed by it`s users to talk on chat, but it should be a private and a public one. In the private one, just to talk with your friends, and in the public one, to be like a forum, with cathegories. It will be fun to talk with your friends on private chat, but i think that they don`t add such gadget, because they want to talk here on the website more, not on the chat.

I think a chat box would be a great mylot feature to have. We would just have to be careful that all of our time was not wrapped up in the chat box though. If we chatted all the time, how could we participate in discussions? The chat box would keep us close to all of our mylot friends. That would be the best part of a mylot chat box!

Chat was actually one of the things I looked for when I first signed up in myLot. And you're right. It can be a plus factor if they have that. But I believe myLot may have that planned out already. Multiply didn't have it before but now, they've also integrated a chat facility in their site. So, it wouldn't be surprising if myLot will have it later as well.
