Do you find it hard coming up with a good topic to discuss?

Hi Mylotters: I find it quite difficult at times coming up with an interesting topic. I do get responses though, some more than what I thought I would get, and others, less than what I was hoping for. I think it sometimes depend on the time of day too. I usually start mine at night, but not always. I do enjoy starting discussions, but I get so frustrated when I have one on my mind, then bingo, all of a sudden, poof, it is gone. I hate it when it happens, but I just do take it all in stride and hope for the best. I am at a total loss what to say on this one, so bear with me. I don't know how some do it and get oodles of responses, as some of the discussions I have seen, just aren't all that good. I have tried to put a lot of thought into this one, so I hope that others will respond, but if not, then i will jsut keep trying. Share with all of us your feelings when you start discussions. Happy mylotting all, and have fun in here and have a good day, or night whichever the case may be.

Sometimes, but with 2 very active puppies and a crazy family, I can usually find something..Then when I get ideas to try something new, this is the perfect place to inquire and get a multitude of opinions..As for the responses, I actually don't mind if I don't get a lot, but what does bother me is when I seriously am asking for help. (this usually has to do with computer problems..Lol), and no one responds..Even one response, whether it helps or not, at least I can keep it going. But with no response, it can get lost on the back pages where no one can see them..:(

Herro carmelanirel I have a unique technique. When I GO TO 'no responses" I start at about pg25. That way I may be able to help someone by giving them a response. Most of the first pages will be responded by someone. I do have a couple with no response and some with 1 or 2 responses. I also go back and check best response. Prosperous mylotting

I am fortunate that I never had zero responses so far. I wasn't sure, as I know that some of my discussions were not all that interesting to most users. I do try though, and when I get response4s at all, it makes me feel good that at least some users have thought enough of my discussions to respond to them. I just come up with my own ideas instead of getting them from newp0apers or anywhere else for that matter. That is kind of why I don't start discussions everyday, or every week for that matter. I will just keep trying and who knows but that maybe someday, I will ger more responses than I ever have before. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take are, and have fun mylotting.

Same here, I am running out of ideas on what to discuss about. I think most of my questions has been posted already. And sometime when my discussions going to be in a hot list, someone will post violations and I feel sad that my questions were deleted.

Herro denzlangga Herro rosekiss I have a question. What is someone posting a violation and do they do that by the negative sign? Do they have to give a reason for posting violation? Is it automatic deletion or does an admin make a final decision? Well, guess that was more than one. Oh well, one led to another, all related. Prosperous mylotting

That is the hardest part not knowing if your discussion will get deleted or will stay. I have seen a lot of discussions deleted lately because of violations, and it really gets old, and all we can do is tell them what they had done wrong and hope that they don't do it again. I never have many ideas for discussions, but I wish I did, gut from now on when I get them I will have to write them down, so that I don't lose them. Thank you taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

If I set myself the task of submitting a discussion at set intervals then it would probably seem a formidable task. As it is I simply write whenever something either occurs or pops into mind, whether it is twice in a day or every two days.

I sometimes get a mind block that I can't think of a thing to write about. It is then that I will wait unitl I do, as I want to make sure it is a topic that others will be interested in responding to. Some of my discussions have more responses than others, but at least I have some, and that is the main thing.

Herro rosekiss Gee willikus, I saw that you had started 51 discussions. That sounds like a lot to me. I'm a baby. Now, where do I get my ideas? Some I get from other discussions, something triggers my thought process. When I do my search before I start, the info I get sometimes gives me ideas. Sometimes I get ideas from the news, I watch CNN in the morning. Sometimes I get ideas from other people. One idea came from a guest speaker at Church, Sunday. Today, I did a search on the word miracles and found lots of discussions, so looked at them and came up with a different angle. I only put up 2 discussions at a time because I respond to all comments. I don't want to become overwhelmed. I admire the responses that I see you (rosekiss) making. They are thorough and comprehensive.

I only start one discussion at a time and then I will comment back to all the responses I receive from it, and then when users stop responding, then I start thinking of another one to post later on. It has been quite awhile since I poste4d my last one, so i decided to start another one and see how it goes. I reaslly don't get my ideas from anyone or anything I have read or seen. I just sit and think about what I want to say and then post. It is hard for me to come up with good topics usually, and that is why I really haven't started all that many. I know it seems like a lot but it isn't compared to others who post almost everyday. I just can't do that as I want to give my discussion a chance first before I start anymore. Thank you so much for the complement as that was so nice of you to say, about my responses. I sure do try anyway. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take care, and have fun.

I understand the difficulty you face in choosing a topic to generate healthy discussions. But I have decided to use some of my article as a source for future discourses. It can be very challenging if the responses are few.

I am glad that you have ideas for further discussion. I don'[t so I just have to wrack my bran to come up with something that other users will be interested in responding to. I am however, thankful for the responses I do receive however few they might be. It is sure better than not getting any at all, and I figured that would happen in this discussion and a few others I started, but I am glad that users have taken the time to respond. I am certainly going to keep trying though to come up with just the right topic that will get lots of responses. thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I have the same problem as yourself my friend. When I first started (not all that long ago) people would reply to my discussions out of curiousity, more than anything else, which is fine because I was so excited anyone responded AT ALL and I still get a buzz out of ANY comment that comes my way. I try not to think about how many I get; I just concentrate on the fact I get one response as that person has taken the trouble to read my (often) long-winded discussions! What we may think is a good topic others may not and vice versa. Many people get by just responding to other discussions. I try to mix it up so I don't get bored. I should imagine you are like that too. I hope what I have said above makes sense. It is very late so I shall be back here in a few hours' time. Happy MyLotting!

What you have said has made a lot of sense for sure. I too, am always happy when I get responses, not matter how many. I have never been fortunate enough to get hundreds like some do, but you know, it could just happen, when I least expect it. Thank you taking the time to read my discussion and responding, have fun, and take care.

Well, if it's any consolation, I have had discussions where I thought I wouldn't get so many responses and got a few..so that surprised me somewhat at the time. Another thing to consider is that some of your friends may be responding elsewhere (which is fine) but there are always new members registering on a daily basis, so that thought should keep you going too.

it's true rosekiss that it's comparatively very difficult to start discussions than responding discussions. But I still wanna start more discussions. I get kinda of satisfaction in starting discussions and interacting with Mylotters. I 'm sure all Mylotters find responding easier than starting discussions.

Yes, it is much easier to respond than start discussions, as I don't have to think of a topic as there is already one started that i can respond to. I am glad that I am not the only one having trouble coming up with good topics. I am sure going to keep trying though, as I don't mind starting discussions, when I can come up with a good topic, that is. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

I have no problem deciding what interest I want to us, just what to post in the first place, as I don't want to start a discussion on a topic that has already been discussed. That is the hardest part of it all, and I think that is the reason I don't start discussions everyday, or every week for that matter. I would much rather respond to discussions, but when I do start a discussion, then that gives me a break for a bit and then I can just comment back as long as I get responses to my discussion. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and responding, and happy mylootting.

Its always hard to look for an interesting topic to discuss. I am just amazed by some mylotters here because they get to many responses to their discussions even though the topic is not really interesting but something that people can relate to in their every day life.

I feel you are right, as I have noticed that too. I guess I shouldn't worry about how many responses I get, because I should be grateful I get any at all, and I most certainly do for sore. It would be nice to get hundreds of responses though, but if it never happens, then that is aoka too, as I am glad I do ge4t responses no matter how many I get. Thank you for reading my discussion and taking the time to respond. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

There have been times that my state of mind wasn't all that great, so if I would want to start any discussions, then I would have a very hard time as my mine would just go blank. It happens more than it should, that is for sure. The hardest part is trying to decide if a discussion I start would be interesting enough to get responses. Also it is hard to come up with a topic that hasn't been discussed already. I will certainly keep going though, as one of these days I might just come up with one that will go on and on. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and responding. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

I know how you feel and I understand. I am just like you. Thinking of a good topic then, nah.. I don't think it will interest mylotters, too vain sometimes, or too hard to understand. I thought a lot and the ideas gone. Many of mylotters here, just take it from anything that is happening in their life at the time they are writing. It's like they are writing while walking or something.

I haven't as yet started a discussion about my life, as it isn't all that much to brag about, so I keep it quiet pretty much. I just will think about other things that I want to say, and then start a discussion from that. It is hard though, as my mind will go a total blank as I do need to write down my ideas from now on so that I don't lose them when I start writing. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I hope that you got the answers you were seeking as well. I have learned so much in here, that is for sure. Thank you for reading my discussion and responding, and happy mylotting.

Yes,sometimes I aslo have the similar feelings.I beleive most of us have personal intested issues in mind. But those issues may not arise common interest of someone else.People's motivation of thinking are based on life value they persue. If we have same targeted core value,we will be easy to communicate with common interests.Modern sociery divided our notions, people have different focused interst, that is why we have some sort of obstales in communication.

I have never started a discussion about things in my life, and I think that is, that I don't find my life all that interesting, and so others probably wouldn't either. I just try to think of simple topics to discuss, and yet that can be hard too, as my mind just goes blank,, as an idea will be there, but if I don't write it down, then I lose it. I see a lot of discussions here are very interesting, and others aren't all that much. I know that my discussions aren't all that interesting, but I am sure trying, as I don't want to give up, as I know that one of these times, i will come up with a very good one, and that is all I can hope for. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and responding. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

i too have the same problem and now finding new techniques to have a long discussion ... i think one way is to have discussion on common topics on which many of them can respond.... i hope it may help you

Thank you for the info. I guess I just don't pick common enough topics. I will say though, that I haven't had it to where no one wanted to respond, so that is good. I know others have a hard time too, and what they think is a good discussion, ends up not getting any responses at all. I won't give up though. I will still try to start more, but as before, it won't be all that many and I only do one at a time usually. Now if I should think of a real good topic that sounds good to me, I will maybe start another one. That is the hardest part is figuring out what has been discussed and what hasn't. I think that deters a lot of others from starting them too. Thank you for taking the time to read my discussion and respond. Thace care, and have fun myloting.
