Why do kids like to roll on the floor?

I've noticed my nephew like to go down on the floor a lot, whenever something drops, he will be first to go down on his knees and peep under the bed or sofa or whatever to retrieve the thing. When he's playing, he will just throw things around and pick them up from the floor, or just rolling around. I wonder he's not tired. So why do you think kids like doing that?

Yes, they have fun doing this over and over again, it seems to be amusing to them.

No, no, no, don't do that at home behind closed doors! Go somewhere with a lot of grass, an open field or a deserted park and have a roll there. Get up close and personal with nature, there's some negative ions floating out there that's good for health. Get the kids to go along to cheer for their oja.

Yes, they will always choose the most comfortable place to be in, kids are more sensitive to surroundings than we are, but somehow, they think the dirty floor is comfortable too?

hi bluemoonpavilion only kids? I think this is built into the male genes for some reason. My 51 year old son is just as apt to sit down on the floor and do something as to sit on my bed when he visits me. He also did that as a little boy. they are limber when little and short so maybe the floor seems safer to them than the furniture you would expect them to sit on. You never quit know whats going on in those little boy heads. but they do seem to all have an affinity to the floor. God love them.

Whenever I have a gathering with friends, we all like to sit on the floor too, makes us feel closer and easier for conversation, and the males do have a tendency to prefer the floor to chairs, they said it's much cooler down there.

Hi, bluemoonpavilion. I don't know why kids are like this. My son loves to roll and slide around on the floor and he constantly throws his toys around too. I guess this is something that kids enjoy doing. I call it "playing rough".

Well, they are definitely more grounded than adults.

If I could get up again without struggling, I'd be on the floor too.

Maybe because they are smaller it doen't take a lot of effort to go down on the floor. Plus they have lots of energy.
