When will my baby be ready to sleep with a pillow or a blanket. With my other children they slept with me. They mostly would sleep on my chest. So this is another new thing to me. Happy MyLotting!

With both of my daughters, I didn't allow them to use a pillow until they were almost 2 years old. I'm sure you could probably let them use one sooner but I chose not to take the risk of suffocating.

First, I would like to thank you for posting a opinion on this topic. I see you waited to they was 2 years old. I also see you was scared of suffocation. I will also think about that fact too. When I start to consider giving her a pillow. Thanks again for your response. Happy MyLotting!

When My daughter could roll over on her own then she got a blanket. But she is like me she likes her blanket. It stressed me out because she was a preemie and I was told all these things not to do. She never had bummpers in her crib because of the risk. And she didn't get a pillow until two years old. I couldn't fin one small enough to fit in her crib. Then she got a pillow pet for christmas when she was two and started using that. It was too big for the toddler bed, but she liked it. What I like is that there is no pillow case for her to get stuck in. It is washable so that is good. Also I always used baby blankets not full size ones so she would get too wraped up in them.

With my children, I didn't let either of them have a pillow until after their first birthdays to be completely sure that they had adequate control of their heads to turn out away from their pillow in case of distress. With a blanket, I didn't let them have a blanket in the bed with them until they were able to roll over on their own because that is when they stopped sleeping on their backs and started sleeping on their stomachs.

You can add a pillow (a very small one) once the baby can life its head up on his/her own. A blanket can be used early on but you need to pin it to its chest so that it won't cover the face that might suffocate the baby.

Hey! My daughter is a year and a half. She uses her pillow and a blanket. She does just fine with it. I only started her with them a few weeks ago. That's when I started feeling okay with it =)

I don't remember when my kids started using pillow and blanket. In my place we don't need a blanket at all , until and unless we use the AC. Its hot to cool throughout the year. you can probably put your children after they have slept, far away from you on a pillow. slowly they will get used to it.
