I often watch American films with story about PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS / Detectives. My question is, how in real life, is it true that the practice of private investigators did exist? how they work, are they were under the coordination of police? did You ever use their service? why use their service, is police performance can not be trusted?

Its pretty dull work. Most of the time its investigating fake insurance claims or stalking out cheating spouses. It is hardly like the movies. People use their services for things the police can not do/wont do. While they are to act with in the law, it is a very gray area in which they work. Most are ex police officers .

advokatku yes Private eyes do exist and sometimes they work with the police and sometimes they work with the p olice blessing as they can at times work for a private person and extend the search for facts, clues and such that the police may have had to give up on to work on other cases so they have a bit more latitude. I dont think they are all so glamorous as the films make them out to be but they do exist and they do help people too.

Hi there Advotaku! I also watch movies about private detectives and have read a couple of books about it. I like the one that I read entitled Dungeon Master. I believe that private investigating business really exists. In fact, in Manila, I have seen at least five offices of that business and I think that they don't always work in coordination with the police. They just work for those who hire them and just obtain the information or proofs that the clients are asking for. I haven't tried availing their services and I don't have any plants at all to do so since I don't have any need for it so far. I guess some just wants to prove what they are thinking first before diving into legalities and possibilities of publicity.

I often heard that some high profile citizens get the service of private investigators for some cases, it's not that they have no trust towards the police of NBI, but they just thought that getting the service of private investigators speed the case because they are focused on the case only not like police and NBI that they still have various cases and concern to think about. I am not yet avail the service of private investigators, hehe, because of course they are very expensive.

Well private investigators do exist in real life and search the same role, at least to an extent. To a certain extent. The thing about Hollywood is that more often than not, a certain part of the truth can be taken and spun into something more dramatic. You can kind of see the truth undertones when you really look at it. However, there is a certain amount of dramatizing. Of course, the police can be corrupt in real life. Not all of them, but there have been questionable activities in the place. Therefore, a private investigator would be an interesting option, but not too clear about how closely they work with the law enforcement agency. Still, as with anything, Hollywood has taken an idea that might have some certain amount of truth to it in real life and blown it into something else for dramatic effect.

Yup i do believe that they exist. It's the way they are. But the problem is that they are private and they are really difficult to find if you ask me. They demand huge money also because they hear you out and they help you according to the situation you are in. They are usually with high people and all that. I say that because my dad's boss has private investigator's in their rival companies which help them and sometimes by mistake also mislead them.
