We consider moon and sun as god

Many consider Sun-god and Moon-god as Superstitions? Sun is definitely a giant thermonuclear reactor. As per my Hindu religion, it is not that the sun is a god but it is presided over by a god. Just as thermonuclear reactor is under the direction of a thermonuclear engineer, the sun is under the direction of a super thermonuclear engineer, the sun-god Vivasvan. We understand the existence of the sun-god and moon-god from the evidence of the Vedic literatures, which go back thousands and millions of years before the Egyptian and Mayan civilizations. From the Bhagavad-gita we learn that Krishna personally spoke the message of the Bhagavad-gita to the sun-god millions of years ago. So please do not think that this is superstition. Their existence is confirmed in authoritative Vedic history. What is your view on this? I just share our faith and I honor all religions. Please keep your responses clean. Professor

Did you know the moon turns out to have been split to half? This was to prove the unbelivers the existence of God as revealed by the Koran thousand years ago. The sun and the moon have long obeyed their Lord rotating in the universe like those performing "tawaf" in the hajl rite. I hope you enlighten, prof. Thanks.

The Sun is only a Sun and it is the source of energy for the earth. it is a Hot ball revolving around its own self. this what Quran says about it. also the hotness of the sun shows that there will be more hot weather in the hell for the evil doers and they will be punished in the Hot weather. also it shows that there is some one Bigger than all these this(ALLAH)(God) who had made this universe take care

Yup we also consider the moon and the sun as gods and even most of them offer surya namakar(morning prayer to god) each and every morning. And during full moon we have a rituals and there usally moms and mothers don't eat anything during the entire day in the belief that their life would be longer and it would be good for the entire family also.

People believe things they can't explain and understand to be something created by supernatural, through the years of civilization some faith remains others shatter by science. Considering sun and moon as god is nothing new. People tend to worship anything that is beneficial to their needs.

hi Professor I honor your religion deeply. My view is that I have a different religion so my beliefs are different of course. but as you respect mine I must also respect yours too. Some of your beliefs seem so beautiful to me that I at times envy. I read the Bhagavad-gita in college as a course in various religions. It is rather a beautiful book whether it bears on my own religion or not. Thanks for sharing and I hope nobody gives you any problems regarding our different religions.

I always respect the fact that there are things that human as we are, we cannot grasp them or fully understand them. My principle in life is to live up to your faith and to what you believe - be it Hinduism, or Christianity, or Islam. I am a Catholic but I beg to disagree that a person's religion guarantees salvation.

I am agnostic, but respect all religions. I believe that religions are ways men have had over the milleniums to try to understand things that escape their comprehension. As symbols, I find that what you are telling us is a beautiful way of explaining that something that we cannot fully grasp. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

There are many stars similar as sun or moon. Are there many Gods who master the stars? And sun will finally disappear from the history, does it depends on God's casual will or must Gods act according to universal laws?If Gods just act by law, does it mean Gods have no freedom of making their own decisions? If gods' activities are controlled by laws, are laws more superior than Gods?
