What's your favorite type of sushi?

I really have a thing for Oriental food, and Japanese cuisine is just the diamond of them all, I think. Sushi can sound disgusting for many cultures, because raw fishes aren't the most popular and common thing to eat - yet, when you taste it for the first time, you can't help to be overwhelmed by the delicate taste of it. What's your favorite type of sushi? Do you know how to prepare it? Do you eat it often? I still haven't decided what's my favorite type, but I want to try to prepare it, sooner or later!

hi there,... i rarely have the chance to eat sushi just because most of the sushi here sucks. they have made the sushi here taste more suited to our palate or the ingriedients used are local. i love sushi when it's prepared by authentic japanese makers. but i guess the sushi that i like best isnt very japanese at all. that's the california makki. i love love love the taste. i wish i could eat it all the time. i dont know how to prepare it though. what's your favorite?

Thanks Memnon, I enjoy cooking Oriental dishes too! To be honest, I love to use chopsticks to cook, they're very useful. :)

In the world there are different tastes, that's why it's fun to compare opinions. :)

I would never eat raw fish they have worms in them. I could not even try to eat them. I dont no how anyone would eat them.

I don't get how some people can find a particular type of food gross and tell other it has worms in them. Do you know how much work do Japanese cooks put in their sushi making? For them, it's almost an art, not just "cooking". They would be very offended if you say that one of their traditional and most high class dishes is full of worms.

I like Japanese food very much, very tasty and enjoyable. Sushi is fine too because I like the taste of raw fish. But, my favorite among all the Japanese foods is tempura. Oh, so yummy, yummy. I often go to Japanese restaurants here in town for tempura at lunch time.

Oh man i love sushi! xD Right now one of my favorites is inarizushi, usually inari for short. Its a sweetened fried tofu pouch with sushi rice on the inside. Though it tastes vastly different than other sushi, this is why i love it so much. Got my first taste of it in Tokyo when I was staying there. Though it might be western style, i also like spicy tuna rolls haha. oh and shime-saba(pickled mackerel) nigirizushi is hella good along with maguro(tuna)and sake(salmon, not the drink lol) and nigirizushi being the slab of fish on top of the oblong rice. I have all the means to prepare it, like the rice vinegar and the sushi mat, but procrastination keeps me from doing it :x I do eat sushi alot lol. Haha and believe it or not, there are even japanese people that dislike sushi :D My old japanese teacher hated it lol

I LOVE nigirizushi, they're my favorite I think! I tried shime-saba only once, but I liked it so much, I can't wait to eat it again. And lol, I know that there are even japanese people that don't like sushi :D one of my japanese penfriends totally can't stand it, and one of my teachers doesn't like it very much as well. I think it's like here in Italy, we're the country of Pizza but you can find people that dislike Pizza even here, lol.

I love sushi...I live...I breath...and I would die for it. My favourite of all is the samashi. There's something about the strips of raw tuna and salmon that just makes my mouth water. Add that with the sushi rice and seaweed and you've lost me to my culinary senses for a good hour or so. It's a religious experience for me. I eat it as often as I can afford it. I do enjoy baked sushi as well...oh and fried...face it, I love all sorts of sushi but I'm very limited to what kind of fish as I am picky about that part. ~Stjarntydarna

I love most sushi but I prefer the tuna and salmon sashimi. I eat it 2-3 times a week. I don't like too much rice on my sushi. I also prefer an authentic Japanese-owned restaurant. A lot of Japanese restaurants here in Vancouver is owned by Chinese or Vietnamese and it's just not the same.

My favourite type of sushi are the ones where you get small packets of rice parcels wrapped individually with seaweed paper and you must have raw salmon with it. It tastes better this way and anyone who hasn't tried raw fish with sushi won't have eaten sushi properly. I can understand why it isn't very popular due to the issues of bacteria and possible food poisoning but if you go to a reputable place and have a highly skilled chef who prepares it then there should be no problem, because if problems occur the sushi master loses his licence as well, I think, is that correct? But anyway, the raw salmon rice parcels are my favourite!

Ahh! Sushi!! Among the many things that I'll never miss out remembering when the talk is about food, are my occasional visits to those cozy sushi bars in Japan. Yummy!! I forgot the name of that particular sushi number but I will never forget its tastiness complemented with that edible smell of nori wrapped around it and the deviousness of hot wasabi paste that no sushi lovers can do without. I order my favorite sushi stuff by just showing them the picture or by just grabbing whatever I feel like eating from the sushi conveyor that continuously runs around the bar. My favorite sushi however is the one topped with fish eggs, which looks like small red orange marbles.(does anyone out there know the name of this sushi?) I also go crazy over maki sushis. Now, all of a sudden I'm hungry!

I enjoy, and cook, Oriental food. However, I don't like fish at all- raw or otherwise. I have read that there is a fad, or was recently, for part cooking fish live?

When I was stationed in Okinawa I found that I liked the ones in a triangle. They were the fast food version (think 7-11) of sushi. The nori is separated from the rice by plastic and you pull the tab/string which separates the plastic in the front so you can pull the plastic away and wrap it quickly. I'm a boring person to most and I like basic tuna.

I lovvvvve sushi. I refuse to eat octopus, but will try anything else. My favorite is probably the spicy tuna roll; I haven't really gotten a chance to try too many kinds yet, but I'm always willing to try something new.
