A friend just sent me an e-mail about David Letterman featuring Why a Filipino-American can't occupy the White House! in his Top Ten list. Th list included such things as the White House being too small for in-laws, or there might be too many dining rooms in the White house it is difficult to know where to put a Last Supper frame, or state dinners do not allow take home! This only means one thing. The genius in the Filipino is pervading every nook in America. The White House included. This little brown blood is finally being recognized. And David Letterman knows that. His dentist is a Filipino!

Hello eileen, awww, i wish it were be true. there are so many Filipinos now in the United States that we are being included in the movies, Films, reality shows and others films. trouble is that none had really taken the lead role or something, i could be wrong you know. but there was a novel that albertwhisker was telling in his discussions that "starship troopers" character is actually a FIlipino "not" White Portuguese. i think we already have law makers and generals in their Military who is a Filipino. so, we have built our names there already. any racist remarks from them is useless or just plain arrogant about the Philippines. am glad filipinos learnt to adopt to other countries.

This is good, funny if interpreted in a good way but we can't deny the fact that there would be Filipinos who would be interpreting it in a bad way. I think those who would take it negative are Filipinos who doesn't even know what Filipinos are

Good point. I do hope we can veer away from that.

I think this one didn't come from Letterman. I tried to search for videos of Letterman's top 10 and I can't find this. Anyways, it's still very funny and I really don't think of this as being racist. I also agree that we should embrace our culture and our oddities, that's the only way we'll truly be attuned to our own heritage.

That funny man could be an honorary Filipino. He pokes sarcasm on everything and everyone, just like we do.

Oh good that they are actually taking notice of the country in the SEA. well it is funny that they have featured that, or have done that but well its still quite a long journey still before it can happen though.. hopeful still that we as Filipinos make more mark in this world.

chiyosan, the peoples of the world are amazed at the ability of the little brown Filipino. We had become topnotch brain and heart surgeons, ace statisticians, trustworthy lawyers, dependable nurses, remarkable athletes such as Pacman, Bata, and Django, reliable teachers, kind and loving nurses and caregivers. The world had just to take us into their employ. Yehey!

Thanks coffeeshot. I know I am bragging here but I couldn't contain my happiness that at long last, we Filipinos are being noticed because of what we can contribute to the world and not just because of some notoriety. Letterman did hate it when his dentist has to go back home to the Philippines for a brief vacation. He was told it was a Filipino thing, ha ha!

I think letterman is a smart aleck & was not being very nice to have said this. He's always cutting someone down. I hope his dentist jabs him good for being tacky about Filipinoes.

Good job Mr. Letterman! Now you got more Filipino fans than Jay Leno. Well we know that a Filipino born chef is working in the White House. Besides a Filipino chef, there was this doctor who served Clinton and the two Bushes. I just learned this three weeks ago after this said doctor appeared on CNN to promote her book "The White House Doctor." I do not know if that is the right title but that is what I remember. Good job fellow Filipinos.

Thanks for that info defcon505. I couldn't contain my jubilation. I knew there must be others, aside from the chef, who are truly helping America get their home fixed. The Filipino doctor was in the house, ha ha! Take that Teri Hatcher!

It's funny but it's embarrassing in any way since some Americans know the mentalities of the Filipinos but still Pinoys make it big in the worlwide seen despite the facts of these mentalities. Maybe you might have missed some points in pointing out why the genius Filipino is taking every nook American,.

At first I thought this is some kind of criticism but when I read it it was just made for fun. Although doing that it shows the characteristics of being a Filipino and their kind of living. It is a good thing he didn't place there the giant fork and spoon in the dinning room.LOL.

hanagi, he mentioned that. Something like these giant wooden spoon and fork might be too huge for, say, everything else (decoration). We Filipinos are truly a funny lot. Letterman, I think, had conceded, that we Filipinos are a people, though peculiar in more ways than one, to reckon with. And he believes that a Filipino-American could make it to the highest office of the land. That is how I viewed it.

I think it is supposed to be funny. And it is. Really! lol. But atleast it's not degrading. Though I can't see any 'genius in the Filipino' in there?

damned_dle, I will tell you what the genius is all about. Just ignore the responder here who is embarrassed taking home food just because he is in an alien land. Rude? Shame on the Filipino who could not understand that we actually allow our guests to take home food because Filipinos naturally share food and we even think about our guests who, when they get home, might actually get hungry. To save the trouble of preparing food, the guests could just open their take home. Hmmpf! It is just disgusting to know that there are the likes of pretentious wannabes who are ashamed and cannot even defend our culture. Back to that genius thing. David Letterman is actually saying that the Filipino-American is very much qualified for the presidency of the United States. All his protestations, like our love to send home forex boxes, are just tongue in cheek. In a way, he can foresee that the Filipino-American can govern this most powerful nation on earth.

I never thought that a man like him would have a great thoughts about Filipino. At first I thought foreigner only like us because of our hospitality, later I learned the American company really likes Filipino because we can easily adopt to any culture and we are a fast learner and hard worker. If I can remember the chef cook of the white house is a Filipino too right?

I'm sorry to disappoint you guys but I searched through David Letterman's website and there is no Top Ten about Filipinos, I was thorough and used different keyword just to be sure. I also browsed a few sites and blogs, most are saying that though the content is funny it is obviously not from Letterman.

Guys, I am not sure why somebody would use David Letterman. Unless he issues a disclaimer, that e-mail must hold true. Anyways, I posted the list on responder #1.

So that might be the reason why I can't find it too. He usually jokes in a humorous offending way. But I wouldn't mind that too. They even vulgarly jokes about their president and it's ok with them! we shouldn't over react. XD

I have mixed feelings about that because that is clearly stereotypical. Then again if you follow David Letterman, that's just his brand of humor. You're the fool if you feel offended. At any rate if Obama was a leap then having a Fil-Am in the White House... well it might be more akin to a deep sea dive.
