Do you think that its right for countries to co-host the world cup ?

Bids are being made to host the 2018 world cup. Countries that are interested include England, Russia and Spain / Portugal co-hosting. It has been co-hosted in the past but as the host nation automatically qualify this means that 2 of the 32 nations are already spoken for instead of 1. Do you think that it should be co-hosted or not ?

I am ok with countries co-hosting the World Cup. It gives more countries to gain from organizing the world cup. Also for countries which are so small that they individually cannot host a world cup, this gives them a very good chance to host the big event. In cricket, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been co hosting world cups for some time now and with a good deal of success. Cheers! Ram

Co-hosted is fine if it means two countries with no capability to host it alone, have the chance to bring the biggest showpiece to their shore. However, if it means 2 auto-qualifying squad, then it is a no-no.

It had been co-hosted by Korea and Japan before. As an individual not living in either country I think it is very interesting and very exciting indeed, not just because of the automatic qualifying. But as the co-hosts of such a great event a lot of compromise has to be settled. I wouldn't be more happier to see my country with just the opening ceremony alone instead of both with closing ceremony as well or vice versa. It wouldn't be much fun either to see half of the total teams playing live in my country.
