The Day with No Sun...

Hey there dear friends, Tomorrow, on 11th of July the Sun would be hidden for some time due to solar eclipse. Now I would like to share a few thoughts and beliefs, which we follow. From my childhood we were taught that during an eclipse especially during a solar eclipse we must not eat and drink anything. One must finish his meals before or after the eclipse gets over. It is even said and we follow it too that you should not even use the restroom during those hours. We never participate into something, which we consider auspicious. Our elders say that one must sit in a calm place and pray for sometime and if you have very urgent things to do one can do it provided if it doesn't require to get you excited by any means. The purpose is to stay calm and quite and possibly pray. I am superstitious so I do follow the rituals, although I don't quite understand it completely. What about you? Do you follow any certain rule or refrain doing from something during an eclipse or for that matter are you superstitious of something? I guess there must be interesting anecdotes and beliefs from people all over the world about solar eclipses, have you ever seen one wearing those eclipse glasses? Bodhi

In our country there was an old belief that, during eclipse especially 'Lunar Eclipse" a huge monster was the responsible for the vanishing of the moon. They thought that the moon has been swallowed by a huge monster. So they will conduct a noise barrage so that the moon came back to normal. the same as in different places there were also different beliefs and rituals to be done during eclipse.

Hi, bodhisatya. I have never heard of anything like this before. This is all new to me. I just watched a movie today about an monster coming out during an eclipse, when there was no moon present. I believe that this is very scary to think about. This monster kidnapped a little boy in this show. I find this very eerie.
