How do you keep a 3 year old in their own bed all night every night?

My 3 year old daughter is a typical child who wakes up in the night & when she does, she comes into bed with me...I want her to be able to stay in her own bed all night every night...I found the night light I had as a child & put that on for her & I have explained to her that the night light is for when she wakes up in the night & that it is to help her to go back to sleep in her own bed but she still comes into me just about every night without fail. There have been the rare occasions where she has slept all through the night but that is when she has been dead tired. What do you do with your kids?

With my son, I had to actually start shutting his bedroom door for a while to keep him in his bedroom. We had to do this for about three months and since then we've been able to leave his bedroom door open at night and he now stays in his own bed until the first signs of light in the day. It is at that point that he wakes up and comes downstairs. However, he will now typically curl up on the couch in our living room and go back to sleep for a while.

I wish I could do this with my daughter but unfortunately our house has sliding doors on all of the rooms instead of normal doors.

I would but I just don't want her in this bad habit for too long.

i don't have problems of this right now.cause my niece is 3 years old but still sleeping beside me.it's just that we don't have any rooms for her.and we used to sleep all together.that's why it's not a problem at all.but hopefully when she turn five we get to have more rooms then we can sleep separately.but still i know sleeping together is much fun than separately.

My daughter prefers to have someone in the same bed as her too.
