I was reading comic books very much when i was young as i was just crazy about these books.During our vacation times, i used to carry these comic books wherever i go.The craze of reading such books have not faded still as i still love reading such books when i get some free time now as it gives me so much relaxation in my busy schedule.Looking into these comic characters is really funny and this does make me also feel light and also get into good mood to work more in my life.Do you also have this habit of reading comic books like me or have you left this habit in school days itself?

i wonder if manga would be considered comics? i think it would as it's also known as japanese comic. i am still reading them now but online as it's hard and expensive to buy mangas here. i did not read them much when i was younger as i was still in school and didn't have much time to go online which is where i usually read. but after marriage, the craze started, you could say and it's been 10 years now that i've been reading it when i have some free time.

The more interesting part of my life is though i have also heard of manga, i haven't read too much about it.I have a habit of reading books a lot and even though haven't come across manga anytime or maybe i have not taken keen interest in knowing what it is.But reading anything doesn't consider age factor as reading a lot of books does keep you young as the saying or the fact goes

i guess maybe part of it is because mangas are quite expensive and we don't always find them in libraries. i don't buy and read them though, i read them online although i forgot how i came across them. but i've been reading them for quite some time and even made a blog of those that i've read and enjoyed although it's only updated sometimes. you've definitely motivated me even more by saying that reading does keep us young. thanks

I love comic books too. Not all of them are for children though...graphic novels are getting more and more popular in our book shops here. I like to read them to relax after a really busy day at work, when I find it hard to face a book in plain text, it is easier to follow graphic novels!

Even children can study through comic books as there are new types of study books available in the market which does take students interest in studying more in a very interactive waya s we do see such books becoming increasingly famous these days and you can also try buying such kind of books to increase your children's knowledge without forcing on them much

Did you not enjoy those Japanese comic books at your young age? if yes, why not read those again at this age and see the difference. It can be different and who knows that you might enjoy it also.without reading it now, you cannot say whether you enjoy it or not.But if you don't enjoy then leave it and just be cool

I didn't read comic books as a child, but last year I started reading them. The Buffy The Vampire Slayer series was continued into an 8th season via comic books and I finally got around to start reading them. I absolutely love them because they bring back awesome memories from when i was younger since I'm not able to reunite with the characters I grew up watching.

I am 55, Australian, and have been reading comic books ever since I got my first comic - It was a Classics Comic titled 'Robin Hood'. Since then I have collected and read many variations of the media called 'comic book', with each variation bringing something new to the industry. From the old British comics such as 'Eagle', 'Boys World' and 'Action' to the US giants Marvel,DC and Classics Illustrated. There was (and still is) Frew publications in Australia who have continuously run 'The Phantom' since Adam and Eve were little kids, it seems. Tin Tin and Asterix were also quite popular. Thats just a few of them. I used to complete English literature assignments using Classics Illustrated versions of the books - less reading and infinitely more enjoyable. Comics introduced me to the wondrous world of literature and for that I will be eternally grateful to the writers and artists who lovingly prepared each issue.

I also have read Robin hood books and it is quite adventurous and interesting also isn't it? i think i still have a copy or two of this robin hood in my shelf where i have ultimate collection of old books which i use it once in awhile when i am free of work. You are also more attached to the adventurous types of comic books than the humorous kind of books isn't it? i like any type of comic books and as yous aid the way of writing here in these books are also very important

I love reading comics when I was in my early teens. The most famous comics that I've read were the Archie comics. I used to collect them and then we swap and share them to anyone who wanted to read them in class. It was before I started reading novels that I absolutely adore reading comics. I just don't know if there are some in the library these days. I've tried asking for them but they don't have it. :(

I was never really into comic books. To be honest with you, I don't think I have ever read more that two or three of them. Comic books were not really a big thing with the kids I grew up with. We were really into baseball cards, and some us collected coins as well...

Without reading comic books one will not even know how good one feels after reading it .so, whatever your age is, just pick up one comic book and start reading it and just see how much difference it makes to you.I was very much into comic books whenever i find free time, but as i got older i was not getting time to read those kind of books but still i read those to get some relaxation

I remember I used to read comic books as a child. It was a great way to pass the time and improve my reading and writing skills. Unfortunately as I had gotten older the passion has faded. But whenever I have the time I like to read the comic strips in the local paper. Although many of my friends and family make fun of me for it. lol.

Reading comic books is a sensible decision and i would advice you to take out time for reading these comic books even at this age of yours.Never listen to others who laugh at our habit of reading comic books and this is your life and you are leading it as you feel comfortable in it.If you listen to them who doesn't know the fun of reading comic books. you will only be effected as you will be deprived of having this fun

I still read comic books especially when I feel somewhat down. The comic relief that it provides somehow eases the burden of life. The jokes that can be found in its pages never fails to bring a smile to my face. I like reading comic books that are a mixture of humor and satire for I love the wittiness of the social commentary embedded in each page. The characters undoubtedly reflect real people who in one way or another may also be impacting our own lives.

This is a great way of getting relaxed and you are really doing good here as i also follow the same method when i am loaded with stress and tensions of daily life and this will make me more relaxed and also confident. Many people don't really understand the power of reading these comic books now as they laugh at some people who do read comic books even after they grow up.In my case, i just ignore those kind of people as i have my own way of leading life and i do it as i wish as it is my life and i just ignore such characters

Comic books are not old and can never be.What made you think that comic books are old and according to you what is new then? i think you might be referring to new age videos which everybody enjoy. But the fact is, still there is heavy demand for comic books and as you go through the comments here, even grown up have started reading comics more than watching video's at home

Alienstar- I was not allowed to read comics as a child, so I started reading them later in life. And even now they never seem to die out. There is always something new, even in the older comics. Currently I am working on my thesis in special education. I'm working on the perceptions of teachers and parents and the use of graphic novels with students with learning disorders. I feel very strongly that using graphic novels and/or comic books would aid in literacy for said students and help them improve over all academically. I am very interested to see where my data collection takes me! Namaste-Anora

Strange that you were no allowed to read comics! but why? were you not allowed to read comic books even when you had vacations as i think parents restrict reading comic books only because of studies and nothing else. It's really good that you have got into this stage now and i also do believe that children might do well in studies if your idea is implemented as they might be bale to do well if given study books with interactive images isn't it?

Your husband is sensible as reading comic books one gets to relax very much.I also like to read comic books as by seeing those cartoon characters in that book i get relaxed very much.I should add that comic books are not meant only for children as these days grown up people want it more to come out of daily tensions than children ! so, take a comic book for yourself, try reading it and feel the difference!

I didn't read comic books very much as a child, but when I moved to Italy I started to read Topolino (Mickey Mouse) which is very popular in Italy as a way to help me pick up some collogquial Italian. When my children were 5 and 6 I started reading Topolino with them in the summer to try and get them interested in reading. Now I spend just about all of my free time on the internet and don't have much time left for reading. I might read comic books at the beach though.
