Can you teach an old Dawn new tricks?

A long, long time ago, somebody taught me how to change a tire. I could probably still do it, but I'd have to use my legs. No upper body strength. I've been thinking, all these years we've had this division of labor. He does anything mechanical and I mostly do the domestic stuff. I never really asked him to show me how to set up a drip system or rewire an electrical outlet or whatever. Maybe I should have. So, how easy is it to teach an old Dawn new tricks?

How much time do you have, Dawny? I can teach you how to service a car engine or how to rewire your house. Any time and patients for that? TATA.

The cool thing is, these days there are so many resources online that we can find to learn new tricks! There are even how-to videos on YouTube - it's amazing!! Either that or you can always pay someone to do it for you - ha ha.

If you can read and follow instructions, it should be easy to learn new things. Skill takes practice, though (especially if you're trying to follow IKEA instructions...).

I ponder these things too! I also ponder I should of taken shop classes or something in high school provided I was intimidated by my classmates. But much of the skills men/boys are taught would come in handy for us modern Women KWIM? Plus I think learning a trade is probably more advantagious than leaning how to cook a caserole *LOL*!

I mean shop like electrical, wood shop, mechanic and those things that were offered when I was in HS. I imagine some of those things have changed but you know the girlie things like sewing are great to know for quick repairs on things but most women now days don't so much soooo.... really why not something you can get a job at?

Right, that kind of shop. We don't have sewing and cooking classes any more, so I'm just guessing that if those are gone, the shop classes are too.

How easy is it to teach an old Dawn new tricks? IF Dawn was old it might be difficult, but since Dawn is NOT old, and since she is intelligent and logical (and female) she will learn very easily and quickly. There are plenty of good DIY books available and most have good illustrations and are very easy to follow. I would imagine these things are also available on the net. Either way, YOU will have no troubles - and I look forward to hearing of your ventures.
