IPL will not be the same again

Indian PremierLeague will see radical changes in format in the ensuing season. The first indication came when Sunil Gavaskar suggested that all players will be available for fresh auctions. This means that teams will have to be reconstituted. I think this is in the interest of players and they will be rerated in the process. Do you think there is a need to change the combination by altering the mix of foreign and domestic players permitted in the playing XI? I have an interesting suggestion- let us have a substitution clause which would allow teams to have at least two substitutes who could be introduced in the playing XI only after 10 overs have been played. This would give teams to make changes to their original team if warranted by playing conditions and change in strategy. What do you say?

I think what has gone on as the aftermath of IPL III has been really disgraceful and in poor taste. The war between Modi and the BCCI has been a bitter one and one that has disgraced the brand IPL. I think now the new committee is more on a damage control mode and it will try to steer clear of all of the aspects that Modi brought in like the IPL Nights and timeouts. I think removal of timeouts is great and will make it more interesting, but I hope that there is real focus on the game and not on the entertainment around the game!! Cheers! Ram

re auction is necessary. and players should be repriced. if reauction is not there then the tournament will be bouring that too with the inclusion of two new teams in the list.

Hi, Of course, sans late night parties, without drinks the next slot of IPL would surely be different. And about the format I did not know before. Is it that the maximum four overseas player in the playing XI would change? And about substitution do you suggest like that is in football, that replace one player for the other and he would not be considered as substitution at all?

I think let the present situation should continue. The reauction is needed. This will make hope for all team. There is 2 new teams so reauction is needed .

Its become a commercial game. Its all for money. Previously parents used to tell their children to study to get a job. Now the parents will tell the children to play cricket and theres no need of a job. IPl pays more than a normal job. Players become stars over night. There have been several rules. The startegic breaks, inclusion of foreign players in the playing 11 have made cricket to change drastically.
