i seldom drink coffee. if i do, i use only 1 or a little more than 1 tablespoon of sugar. in my workplace now, local people don't get satisfied with 1 or even 2 tbsp of sugar. it's like almost half of the glass is sugar and 1 tbsp of tea before they put in the hot water. they don't realize the effect of too much sugar. they are more concerned with what they are used to and what they see from other people. it has to be the usual.when my colleague used a sugar cubes, she thought she'd use 3 tbsp with 3 cubes. the cubes is just like 1 cubic cm. i almost laughed so hard but instead told her that it's not. maybe 3 cubes can be 1 tbsp. but not 1:1 ration. then she recalled like, that was why i thought it was not enough. but when i added one more cube, it was kinda acceptable sweet. and she realized saying "so i actually don't need 3 tbsp of sugar while i tasted the same sweetness with like 1 tbsp. i answered her, no wonder there are a lot of diabetic people in this country. acquired diabetes.

I never put any sugar in my teas. I might put a touch of honey sometimes in hot black tea - but even that is a rare occasion. I also like my coffee black. But I used to put sugar and cream in there . . . and when I did, it was probably about 2 spoons of it or even one. I don't like my drinks too sweet - then it's hard to drink!

For tea, I would usually just add a teaspoon of sugar just to sweeten it. But for coffee, I would add 2 teaspoons of sugar.

You should remind your friend that she have to cut down on amount of sugar she use in everything before diabetic come looking for her.If a recipe calls for xxx amount of sugar, we can reduce it by 1/4 and see how it turns out. Remember, HEALTH is the most valuable thing that we have.^^
