well that is not a bad interest to take up as a hobby. Also if your beading work is too good you can even try some handicraft and if you succeed, you can also make some money out of it. Nice hobby to have and also can help you earn a few extra bucks for yourself and your family. Best of luck.

what i found helpful when i first starting to learn to bead is books with pictures. also a local craft store might have classes so that you also get step by step

My favorite. - This is one of my favorite necklaces I made.
I learned at a bead shop over the summer. I worked there and learned the basics then taught myself a bunch of other things just by playing with what we had. You can go to some bead shops and get a lesson on the basics. Or some bead shops allow you to watch what they are doing. At least I allowed customers to watch and ask questions.

you may also want to try your local library. it can be a wealth of information on beading, colours, etc.

There are also some really good beading books that have step by step instructions on some really wonderful projects. There is also a site that i am a member of where you can get FREE stuff to make jewelry and other items. If you are interested then i can send you more information in an email. Hope this is helpful for you. I always like to help someone who is into making jewelry like i am.
