What do you think is better in the long run? To own or to rent a house? My friends give all kinds of answers and I am still confused.Need your opinion.

I think renting a place would be easier than owning your own place. When you rent, you are only responsible for paying rent and the bills but when you buy then you have to take care of repairs, pay the mortgage and after the mortgage there is the land tax. Also if you don't get along with you neighbors, it would be harder to move. But still it would be nice to own your own place. So I guess it's up to the person.

well of course it will be more better to have your own house than thin for the rent expenses every month for your entire life. but if you dont have that much money to buy one nor mortgage then you have no other choice but to rent for life. better yet ask for mortgage house for atleast even if you pay it like your paying a renting house but after how many years the house will be yours.

Actually, I would have to say that it would all depend on the circumstances in your life. If you are in a situation where you may have to re-locate every few years, such as if you are in the military, I would not recommend buying a house until you got to the point in your life where you were going to be in one place for many years. Renting would make more sense. However, in situations such as my own, it made more sense for me to buy a house, because I am not planning to move anytime soon, so I bought my own house about four years ago...

Buying, in the long run, is better. You'll actually OWN the property. Houses can be quite expensive, though. If you can't afford monthly payments now, rent and save money towards buying your home.

I would buy a house if you are planning on staying where you are currently located for a good amount of time. If you rent a house, then over time you may pay a good amount of money -- perhaps even enough that you could have put it towards buying a house! The downside of renting is that you are paying money for a house that isn't even yours.

If both options are possible, it is of course better to own a house, since it is an investment at the same time as you use it. So for me the choice is rather simple really, but I suppose everyone thinks differently about this...

renting is ok if you dont want the hassle of owning a house but in the long run, home ownership is the best because eventually you will pay off the house, with renting you just pay forever.

If you have enough money you can buy a house. Buying house is good only you have the necessary money. Geting money for intrest to buy house is the worst thing in the world.

I think there is a good and bad side to both. With renting, you will never be able to say that house is really "Yours" per say, but you don't have to pay for repairs or things that go wrong with the house either. Owning a house, you can say it is yours. You also have all of the responsibilities that come with it also. So, in the long run in my opinion I think it is better to own so you have something that you can call your own and no one can say get out tomorrow unless your not paying your bills. =)

Hi ladynetz! I would love o won my own house someday. I have friends who are renting and I think it is really difficult since you are paying something that won't be yours in the long run. Now, I know I don't have the money to buy a house right now but I strongly recommend to my friends to look for rent-to-own houses. I understand though that it is not so popular in our country though. Hope this helps. Have a great day!
