Recently, I was informed of a new plan for sports networks to make more money, based on the wants and needs of men. Before professional NFL games there will be two female football teams play against each other...in their lingerie. The Lingerie football league has been around in the past by playing annual games that are not widely known, and were not broadcast to the masses. These new games played by the women in the, "Lingerie League," will be televised during one of the highest rated times viewers watch television. The will air before professional football games! Unfortunately, only an idiot would think this isn't going to be huge. Not only are these lingerie pieces hot enough to be on the selection list of pieces to use on a woman in a shoot for playboy; they don't even match any "real teams," colors. Hot pink, hot purple, and hot sky blue make up a few of the seriously salacious uniforms. Instead of digging deep into the potential marketing possibilities, companies and advertisers settled for the easy option. Since, there would be no correlation having women mud wrestle in bikinis before a televised football game, or even on a sports network show; deciding to tie the act of playing football sufficed enough for the go a head. This not only gives the public a false message about the worth of women, it confuses already ingrained ideas about symbols and societal themes. What is lingerie? Lingerie is a term for fashionably and notionally alluring under garments. It derives from the French word, "linge," which means personal washables. Lingerie's main purpose and use is for night time, and in the privacy of a woman's boudoir, which means "bedroom." Is the Lingerie League single handily defining when and where it is appropriate to wear lingerie? I guess if the wives or girlfriends attend one of the Lingerie League games, or any of the NFL football games, they should wear there lingerie two? Is this a way for society to get young girls excited about sports? It is sad that I can almost bet that girls will want to learn to play football after , "The Lingerie League," makes it's debut. Will the little girls want to learn because it looks fun or competitive? Or will there real motivation lie within the benefits of male attention derived from being a lingerie football player? It is sad that the only way for men, or the public to watch women's sports is if there being made a spectacle of. The reason the creators of the Lingerie League, and all the marketers and business professionals chose to make the girls have uniforms of lingerie is as follows: First, of course MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! 1.So guys can look at the women and their bodies, and watch as they touch other hot women. 2. SO that the women will be recognized as players who are not taken seriously (regardless of their talent or athletic ability towards the sport) 3. To remind society that women being taken seriously in a professional sports arena is a joke and here it is. 4. To instill gender stereotypes by showing a representation of what women are good for. 5. To give men another outlet from their boring mundane lives with their girlfriends or wives. Advertisers want men to think that watching the Lingerie League play touchy touchy football makes them apart of the highest tier of "what a man does." On the other hand, even though it sounds crazy; and a lot of people might not agree... I don't blame the female players themselves. In this economy, people have to eat. Just like in the movie, "A League of There Own," the fictional baseball players were told by the team owners that if they didn't wear the scantily clad uniforms they would be replaced; adding that it would be easy to replaced all of them if they needed to. I have researched this topic thoroughly, and these girls are very talented and athletic. The actually look like their having fun and almost ignoring the jeers and laughs from the crowd. They are beautiful, confident and act silly and fun to execute (probably network suggested) little sexy references through gestures. Lets just say they are trying to look as classy as one can in lingerie while groping a bunch of other attractive females. I don't blame the girls, I blame society. Sadly, I know this show is going to be huge and very popular. I guess I should start training, so I can get a spot a good future, "Garter belt golf team," or a, "Busty girls with curls basketball league." I guess this just goes to show that when women advance one step closer towards gender equality, it takes thirty steps back. The sad thing is most people wont be viewing it or internalizing as demeaning towards women. They will view it as entertainment, even though they will internalize and store every gender stereotype towards women; while being "entertained." Another question to ponder: Now that Lingerie has a different meaning. What does football and it's history and tradition mean? I'd never heard of this before, and it sounds appalling. I had to look it up and am seeing blogs defending it. It's apparently not sexist because they're playing a rough sport. But, you still have to ask why can't they play in regular football uniforms? I can't wrap my head around people who say that if they're playing real football that totally makes the fact that they're playing in lingerieacceptable. But, I really don't think this has anything to do with young girls. Everything in this seems to be for men and their entertainment and ogling opportunities.

Thank you I agree 100% This is sending a really bad message to little girls. It tells them that looking that way will get them attention. If little girls or young women, think that is what there worth, there is going to be big trouble.
