Why do most Korean telenovels have sad endings?

I'm not really from Korea but some Korean telenovels are being shown here in our country (dubbed in the local language). I just notice after watching several telenovels that most of them have sad endings. In some endings, the lovers in the story will not end up together (either one of them will die or both of them will). I'm not sure if this is a common theme in Korea, its just my observations. I'm looking forward to a response from Korean Mylotters and those who also enjoy watching Korean telenovels like me.

i think that a lot of viewers prefer tear jerker stories, because it's when you find out whether the acting of the actors and actresses are effective or not....

But in the end we must always think and realize that therea always hope

I agree with you. All the Korean telenovels I have watched are all tragic. All the endings seem to have someone die. I guess this is why I love Korean telenovels. If I am looking for a tearjerker show, I just go watch a Korean telenovel. The way they develop their storylines are excellent. I really love Korean shows.
