Do you ever wake up and feel that you have had too much sleep?

I know that sleep is a great thing, but is there such a thing as oversleeping? I generally get around six hours of sleep a night (due to balancing my job and a volunteer hobby of mine), but over the past two days I have gotten respectively nearly eleven and nine hours of sleep. Instead of waking up feeling refreshed, I feel tired.

There are limitation time for sleeping the maximum time is six hours for every night,if we had too much sleep we may become sick. For me I used to sleep only 6hrs and I never used to sleep during day time.If I happened to sleep during day time when I wake up feel lazy and suffer from headache.....

yes, there is such a thing as too much sleep. I think it is called hypersomnia. I believe it can actually make you feel more tired if you oversleep. It triggers migraines in my case. I try to get between six and eight hours of sleep a night. But oversleeping is not good for you!

Yes... sometimes when your body gets more sleep than it needs or is used too you can end up waking up more tired than when you went to sleep the night before. I know that it happens for me quite often for sure. Unless you are sick or just plain run down the Best thing is to stick to a routine on when you sleep and how much sleep you get so you can feel the Best from it.

I actually feel drowsy if I over sleep. There are quite a few occasions when I feel that I have overslept. In all those scenarios it is because even after waking up I feel drowsy and dreadful the whole day. Cheers! Ram

It's been a long time since I have had too much sleep, I generally get about 4 hours sleep on and off most nights. But I know what you mean, I remember that feeling of waking up after having slept long into the morning and feeling totally out of it and then basically struggling to really get going for the rest of the day.

I must admit that sleeping is a hobby of mine. I agree with you that sometimes I tend to oversleep and then i end up waking up irritated because it is late and I will not have enough time to do all the things i wanted to do during the day. This happens during the summer to me. I suggest it is best to always put an alarm on and to try to regulate sleeping times so as to get a balanced amount of sleeping hours.

The more you sleep, and you get used to it, you want more sleep after to it. For me, I would keep the balance of 8 hours sleep only per day. Sometimes, I won't get 8 hours, but I still keep it above 6 hours, or I will spare sometime to get enough rest. That is my body, and I have to keep it balance too at least.

Yes, i often feel a bit dizzy, and i feel more tired, than i am when i sleep a little time. They say it`s usual to sleep 7-8 hours a night, when you sleep more, it makes you feel weird, and more tired.

Sleeping 11 hours in a day is probably too much, but 9 hours is perfectly fine. Your body sleeps longer if it is trying to recover from something, often times it is recovering from lack of sleep. Typically when someone says they are tired they mean sleepy, do you mean you simply feel more sleepy than you were? or do you simply mean sluggish?
