How Do You Train Your Pup To Poop on A Potty Chair?

I know this sounds funny and may outrage some but hear me out first. The reason I am asking is that my dogs poop all the time and though we try to clean all that poop at night when they poop it just stay out there until the morning and I was wondering where all these beast called rats came from well to my shock they were attracted to the dog's poop in the yard. I do not want rats around my house and my folks are complaining so I am thinking of buying them a potty chair for kids since it would be a whole lot more easier to clean and close and hope that the rats would go as well. So do you think this can be done? How do you start from paper training shifting to potty chair?

I have no idea how you could do this but I would assume it is possible. Maybe after you feed them you could try putting them on the potty until they do what they are supposed to do. Now I have the funniest picture in my head of a full grown dog sitting on a toilet, I wonder if you could train the dog to flush the toilet too. That is just too funny. Hahahahaha.

Mine is a toy dog and she is just 3 months old the older one poops outside. The prob is that she is hairy and other than the rats she has a long hair and in my country right now the rainy season has began and of she goes out she gets wet and even when I towel dry her it makes her smell so one reeason I was thinking of doing that.

Oh, you didn't say so. If she's only a three months puppy, maybe it would be better if you keep her inside for the night, especially because you said it's the rainy season. A small breed puppy can catch a cold easily if her coat stays wet for the night. You could also consider a cage for the night (for both dogs, not only for the puppy). They shouldn't poop inside their cage, so you'll solve the poop problem and the smelly coat all together.

Well, I've heard of something like this being done for cats, but I've never heard of it being done for dogs. However, that isn't to say that I don't think that it would be possible. I would think if you would start with them from a very long age then it would be possible for them to learn to use the potty chair. I would recommend that you make sure that you clean out the potty chair on a regular basis so that they won't move somewhere else because it smells bad.

I have read once about training cats to do this, but not dogs..But I guess it can be done, but I don't know how..As for them pooping so much, maybe if you change the dogfood you are feeding them. With a better quality feed, they should not go more than once or twice a day..I think mine are going that much, but with 2 puppies,it is hard to determine exactly..

i always wanted to get my dogs to poop in the uhm...proper place but i'm just too lazy to train them. i think training them to poop in that deposit box is just like teaching them how to sit or roll over etc. etc. reward system is the best way to do it. for me, i just let them run outside coz i live in a place where it's safe for kids and dogs to play out and let them do their thing. good luck!

Ok first of all what kind of dog do you have. If you have a small toy breed, they can be trained to use a litter pan.I went and bought a litter pan for a doggie at Pet Smart. Make sure its a doggie one, as they are bigger, than a cat pan. They do have doggie litter, but it was soo big for my Pom's feet, that it hurt her. I now use cat litter. She is getting better about going in her box and making her deposit. Remember this takes time and patience, lot of it. When she goes in her box, I reward her with a doggie cookie....I never heard of a potty chair using pooch., especially if your doggies are boys, that could be tricky, if your successful you can video tape them using the chair and turning it in to Americas Funniest Videos, and you could win some big bucks. Good luck on your adventure.....
