My daughter is leaving her husband today, at least for a year. They are both in the USAF and she is being assigned to Korea, but he will be still in Phoenix for a year while she is over there. I know it is fairly common for military families to face separations of this sort. Have you any experience with this sort of separation?

I guess for me I Praise God that when he found me a husband he found one that worked local to me, so we have never been apart at night more than a couple of days back when I was in the hospital, etc. for 10 days. My real dad was in the Air Force and was gone a lot, and actually left and divorced my Mom when I was 4 so even though I feel being in the military and having people out there protecting our country I just wish sometimes the seperations and the unknowns like this did not have to happen. Just remember to Pray and share in the good times and hopefully it will be over with really soon.

She will only be over there a year and then they will be stationed together in FLA. I will be so glad when she is back to the USA, and so will my son-in-law!

hello clrumfelt, At first I thought your post was about a married couple having marriage problems. I'm glad I'm wrong. Anyways, I met my husband when he was in the army. He got orders for a new duty station when I was pregnant. The day he had to report to his new station I was already one week overdue to give birth so it was not safe for me to travel with him. Also, there was no housing for us. I gave birth to our first child while he was away. It was absolutely heart breaking. When I was in my 2nd pregnancy he got orders for Germany. I got special dr, permission to fly up to my 8th month of pregnancy. We were only seperated for 2 months. It just made me love my husband more. Good luck to your daughter and son in law. Thank your daughter for serving our country.
