what to do

What do you do when you have an employee that is a former "junkie" who was MIA for a week and then calls you to tell you he slipped up and fell of the wagon but is trying to reform now? do you keep them or let them go?

Well there are times when you have to step up and stop treating your 'employee' like a friend and treat him as an emloyee. I say let 'em go and if a friendship ends because of it then so be it.

If this is the first offense and their job doesn't involve/endanger other people I would keep them. If they have a job that could harm others if they screw up or it's the second time, out they go.
