are flemingos always pink?

i always wonder why flamingos have pink co lour when they are in wild and look very beautiful in pink, but when they are captured and kept them in zoo they lose their pink co lour and turns to white. Have you ever wondered why this happens. Why do they have pink co lour in wild and white when kept in zoo. what's is the mystery behind it.

Flamingos turn pink because of the food they eat in the wild. If they aren't fed that type of food they don't turn pink. Or the pink fades. http://chemistry.about.com/od/howthingswork/f/why-are-flamingos-pink.htm
