Are all comedies funny?

Hi silvercoin,
I do not think that comedy must be funny all the time. It depends on the plot the theme of the story.
Not much I have seen comedies but I find the ones where Jacky Chan has a role to play.

I think most comedies are funny but sometimes they try to hard or they are too juvinille and that makes them not funny. The movie Dumb and Dumber was hilarious the first time I saw it. I really laughed hard watching that movie. The sequel to it however, sas not funny and was one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. I just saw dinner with Shmucks yesterday and it started out kind of slow but then there were some parts that were really funny, sort of so stupid it was funny kind of humor but it made me laugh non the less.

The sequel was horrible,incredibly stupid and really dumb.I think that it's typical for comedies have bad sequels.I wonder if I would laugh now watching Dumb and Dumber, or Mask, or something from that decade.I believe that comedies work best when you watch them for the first time.

I agree. They are much funnier the first time. The second or subsequent times you know what is going to happen so it is not as shocking and not as funny. I think a really good comedy is one where you can quote a line from the movie 2 years later and everyone knows what you are talking about and still laughs about it.

No, of course not all comedies are funny. I personally think Borat was a great movie, as was Don't mess with the Zohan, but there are many others too!

I suppose all of them are, its just some poeple can find some comedies really unfunny and others can be laughing so much it hurts, it just all depends on your type of humour.

Not all comedies are funny some are just stupid. Some funny comedies would be waterboy step brothers. Those movies were funny.

Step brothers, yes, quite good, especially the scene where they're trying to bury each other(Sometimes I like parts with black humor).

Me too, it's hard for me to find a comedy of my taste.Some old and good comedies I used to watch in the past don't have the same effect anymore.

I don't like the movies that are spoof movies...movies like Scary movie or Epic movie. I do not find them funny at all. Actually I think they are stupid.
I like some of Adam Sandlers movie like Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer. I liked Meet the Parents, There's something about Mary, Clerks and Clerks II and Shallow Hal.
My all time favorite comedy is Office Space. I can watch that movie over and over and never get tired of it.

Spoof movies usually just copy the scenes from the original movies and they don't work hard on the script, they just take it from the previous spoof movies.I think it's the lowest level of comedy genre.Office Space?Interesting,I haven't seen this one.

Comedy film were supposed to be funny . But, most comedy film are simply annoying.
I like Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller film . I don't like Jim Carey.

I like Ben Stiller.I couldn't tell now if I like or dislike Jim, I think that older comedies were better with him.
