According to an article on yahoo news NFL MN Vikings player Hasain Abdullah will be practicing without food and water for 30 days starting Aug. 11th. This is when Ramadan starts and forbids muslims to eat or drink while the sun is up. I understand religion is very important to some people but this is extreme to me. It is very dangerous to be in the heat without hydration! Not to mention the practices are geared toward maximum sweat production to build stamina and endurance. If Mr. Abdullah was working in an office with air conditioning or something similar...I would think nothing of it. But, he is endangering his health! Do any of you find this to be extreme? NOTE: I am in NO way criticizing the muslim faith!

It's all about faith. If a person feels that he can fast for ramadan then he must surely do this sacrifice. But not all persons can do it. Sometimes some of them feel forced due to religious pressures. I think that health is more important. Only those should fast who are really able to.

Our religion is an importnt aspect of how we live each day. i believe that having good health is much more important. Without our health, we wouldn't be able to follow the beliefs of our religion without a challenge.

Perhaps by having the statement out, the player want to prove that his practice not reducing his performance. I guess that the outcome he wish to do. Anyway, that's one of the practice by Islam during the Ramadan month. It's the test of enduring the excessive lust as what my knowledge serve me well. Also, it's also a believe that the practice "resting" the stomach from processing foods. But there's always as exceptional in the practice for someone who are not in healthy condition and women who had menstrual period.

If anybody ask me this question,my answer will be a bis YES Religion is more important than health.Your commitment towards religion is going to decide that whether you are going to heaven or hell. With health you can't do anything.Suppose you had done great towards your religion and you die after that everybody will remember for things that you have done to your religion not talk about your health. Therefor religion is more more important than health.
