If it was decided that "objects" that small are not to be classified as planets, then that should have been for in the FUTURE. I do not agree with "demoting" Pluto after all these years. I think it was a mistake.

I am not really sure I understand why it is that Pluto is now no longer a planet. I would think that we are adding more planets not taking their status away. maybe it is just too small or something.

Whaat?? I know Pluto (IPA: /'plu?t??/), designated (134340) Pluto in the Minor Planet Center catalogue, is the second-largest known dwarf planet in the solar system. It orbits between 29 and 49 AU from the Sun, and was the first Kuiper Belt Object to be discovered. Approximately one-fifth the mass of the Earth's Moon, Pluto is primarily composed of rock and ice.

I think it's dumb that I had to learn something that now is being said isn't true. I guess all the science books will have to be rewritten which will cost a whole lot of money. I think they should've just let the whole thing go. It makes no difference either way anyway.

planet no more - planet
plus the reorientation of science teachers about the planets would add up to the cost of all this demoting issue about pluto. thank you for participating. greetings. : )

I think it's just silly. And just such a strange thing to have happen. Poor Pluto, all the way out there by itself and segregated from the other "real" planets. LOL

more strange is for this so called experts to come up with such idea after a very long time. thanks for participating. greetings. : )

It is stupid! I don't understand why they just couldn't leave well enough alone! It was just a room full of people with nothing better to do then debate about pluto.

Why do they want to kick it out now? Kind of late for that, isn't it? Like if they found out that Hitler was a Natzi twenty years after the war. Now, all it's going to cause is uproar in education, with people having different views and being taught different things. I think that for most people, Pluto is now and always will be a planet.

pluto - planet
to add more to that, it will cost the government some amount of money upgrading all the science text books for schools and also the reorientation of teachers.

I don;t think Pluto should be taken off the list. If it is then some of the other "planets" that was recently discuovered like Sena, should be taken off the list. And like you said moneymind, why now say it isn't a planet, how long have scientists been studing these planets and space and this wasn't though of until now. So much in education will be changed like the way to remember the planet hehe. Text books are going to be changed, and retaught.
@moneymind (10510)

and that would cost plenty of money to do, just imagine all science text books that has some thing to do with planets will be change plus the reorientation of teachers..... thanks for praticipating. greetings. : )
