According to studies a new emerging and pandemic disease is Globesity or Global Obesity. Scientists have found out that Obesity is actually a genetic disease. It is an abnormality in the leptin gene and chromosome 7 that signals the hypothalamus of the brain to keep on eating. Obesity is no a disease especially of the first world countries. Do you think there's really an epidemic in Obesity?

I know some countries do have a obesity epidemic. Here in the US it is obvious. There are so many fast food restaurants and I think technology has made us more lazy in some ways. Of course we can choose not to eat the bad food and be more active. We can educate ourselves on what is good and bad in terms of food. I did this for myself. I choose not to eat fast food (I eat it on a rare occasion though) all the time and get some exercise. I used to be obese and I changed that.

I think there's an epidemic of obesity in some nations, but there are so many who don't ge enough food to eat, that I can't see this as being a global problem. I wonder what causes the abnormality? And if it's a disease, what about the people who have been obese and lost weight and kept it off? Interesting!
