Can you guys enumerate/mention some of the toys that are fun and educational for children/babies? I have limited resources but I would still want the best for my child. I would love to spend only for the best. Thank you!

I have used amazon and read a lot of parent comments for toys. Then what I do is look on craigslist in my area. You can buy used toys for very cheap you do have to spend some time cleaning but it is worth it. Children outgrow toys so quickly that it is crazy to pay full price. I love almost all leapfrog toys although my daughter didn't get those until she was older 2 or so. For a baby look for toys with bright colors that will keep their interst. Some of the best toys are still the basics like building blocks, legos, dolls. It dosn't have to be the most expensive toy to be the best. My daughter used to love putting small toys into a large yogury container. Stacking and shape sorting toys are also great for kids. I have bought my daughter a ton of books from goodwill. In my area they avarage $0.29 a piece so I would go and get a bag of books for $8 instead of only getting one or two new books and most of the books I find are in excelent shape.

I do not have the leapfrog laptop. We do have one by vtech which she has not done a lot with yet she just likes to check her email. The one thing I don't like is the keyboard is not like a real keyboard the keys are in alphabetical order. I would go to amazon and read the reviews on it. I do have the tag and tag jr readers and the leapster2. They have a new leapster out now that you can do the books on it now.

Hi, For my son, I bought some flashcards, kids computer, Barney's dvds, some stories books and they are really a good educational toys for him. I spent at least one hour to do revision for flashcards and my son has known lot of things, He can recognize most of the things that I showed him on the flash cards. Then everynight, I will read stories book for him before goes to bed. Sometimes, He will take his own story books and flip them over. It is fun ..at least he shows an interest that he likes to read. You can also buy him so blocks game..it encourage him to coordinate the blocks to build up high like a bulding...let him play around with the blocks, teach him how to build it high. It will be very fun. I also let him watch some Barney dvd,it is an educational dvd for kids and he gets to sing lot of songs from there.

When both of my children were smaller, I really liked all of the different Vtech toys. We had everything from the alphabet caterpillar to the V-Smile. I really feel that both of my children got a lot out of those. The V-Smile is appropriate for children to use until they are about 7-8 years old. Now that my daughter is older, the best thing that I can do for her that is educational is that I buy her a lot of books to read. We also have a lot of coloring books as well. Oh, and there are pretty good workbooks that you can get for preschoolers from the dollar stores.

Don't know how old your child is but mine is 13 months and we bought her a shape sorter a week ago and it really is educational. Also, I got an old DVD of Barney and friends from my sis and she loves the songs, especially the ABC's.
