I googled my name... did you?

Hi, Though I had done it before, I did it again yesterday. Among the results the first thing said something like, "Email address, phone number, everything...." This totally freaked me out. Then I took a closer look and found that there is a phrase 'Vibration Control'. I was relieved. It wasn't me. The next one mentioned my Linkedin connection along with 15 other members. After these two links there was no mention of me or any of my account in the whole results page. Surprisingly, when I used my first name along with a world 'hacker', more relevant results came out. In the first chunk of results I saw all the articles that I've ever written on hacking. My own blog also topped the list. Have you ever tried to search your name in the Google? If you have not it yet, then do it right now. It is really amusing. Thanks in advance for your response. God bless you

Im glad gorilla took the time to point out the same discussion because one of my biggest pet peeves on mylot is the fact that users do not utilize the search option before starting a discussion.....im just sayin...

Oh please don't be so rude. I tried to search for it. But it seems that the search engine has difficulties handling multiple keywords.

Hello getbiswa2000.....I never thought about this. Don't you think this is scary. If all your information is on net, then someone can abuse it......Actually I don't know how harmful it can be because I see that on facebook everyone is feeding their personal details into INTERNET and obviously they are saved and any search engine can find them. I will look for my name, hope I don't get any shocks. Thanks for starting this discussion.

lol That's odd. It's time to forget your real name and start calling yourself warogue678. Mind, the signature.

I tried it and find few results since I don't use my real name in some sites that I joined in. Plus my name sounds Spanish so the links mostly show Spanish related topics but not relevant to me.My friend who is a German tried it also and saw many relevant topics about me (thar's what he claimed). I told him that if it has no picture then it isn't mine.LOL

i did, long time ago,i thought i had a unique name, then i did searched for my name.and surprisingly, there are millions of search results all over the world, even my surname,i thought it was only few who had those surnames like mine, but i'm wrong.there are lots of foreigners who had the same surname or my name.it makes me sad though. but i don't have any search for hackers who have my name.

oh I did once or twice, nothing interesting there, really. I found my running marathon results from my 3rd class of elementary school tho, so that was a bit fun lol other than that my facebook profile may pop up, but other results are pretty much people with same names and things about themselves.

Oh yes, I did that once and it was really fun…though the relevant searches were not all applicable to me, yet I was surprised to see my name linked to my discussions here in mylot! Wonder how they got that!!!

Yes, I did. I am not afraid for companies looking up my name, they'll see a lot of articles and one poem of me. That's about it.

I have done this before. I have found several real estate agents with my name along with a president of a company. Apparenly I have a common name so there are lots of them in the US and even in Texas. I have not found anything on myself yet.
