I always make a list before I go shopping, however if I see something on offer, that is not on the list I will purchase it, because it will save me money in the long run and it is something that I will use. I also have coupons as well which I take with me, every penny helps as they say.

I also think it is good to make a list of things we need to buy and to buy things according to the shopping list.

Me too. If it something that we'll use its okay to purchase it even it's not in the list. Here, coupons are rarely use for groceries, there are more for fast foods yet still useful.(^^)

I am such a huge cheapskate that I just buy according to what I need in life. I think that I have saved a lot of money over the years and each day, I find new and inventive ways to shave a few bucks here, and a few bucks there off of my income. There are times where I might let the wallet open just a little bit more but those times are few and far between. Mostly around the holiday season. Still for the most part, I buy according to my needs in life.

Oh that's really true.I did that way too.To avoid myself spend more than I need to I will sometimes apart of the list and budgeting things I will place them into few places so I will know there is some bucks for me to spend while the rest I will keep them for saving.

I used to be like that, see something I like online, I won't even consider whether I need it really or not. I might simply take out my credit card, punch in the number and make the purchase of it. Later, I just discovered I don't need it that much. Maybe that item was sitting in the table collecting dust. That happen to me lots of times, and I am truly mad at myself right now. Randomly spending money without thinking about it.

I rarely shop online. It quite dangerous even for my wallet if I always shop online. Perhaps you can re-sell the items you purchased or give them to others. Otherwise like you said it will be just sitting in the table collecting dust.

Hi, I always like to spend my money according to my budget. But sometimes I buy according to my wants. If we don't go according our budget our next month's budget may get disturbed. If I have some extra money then I can buy the things according to my wish.

Hi roshigo! You are not alone. We tend to go over budget once in a while~ The important is we know how to spend according to our budget and know how to manage it very well.(^^)

I do try to buy everything that I need, all money that is excess of what i need to be paying for must go to a savings, but then if that is not quite possible, I would usually just not go out so i would not be tempted to buy anything that i do not really need.

when it comes to food shopping i aways buy what i need. food is so expensive and I really try to stay away from any and all junk food. once in a while if i find a really great sale of junk food I will give my kids a treat. but for the most part i rather stick to the stuff we need. it's saves me lots of money

Hi Hanum, I agree with you that, when you make a list , you do stay within your budget and dont overspend on unnecessary things.Sometimes, I can be quite impulsive when I go out shopping and end up buying things that I had not really planned on buying and forget those I had to buy lol...Now , I am being very careful not to do that often, so make a list each time I go out , also don't carry much money in my wallet( but carry my debit cards just in case )....On the whole I am able to balance my monthly budget so, I guess it is alright to splurge once in a while without getting hurt

The problem with me is that I cannot resist certain things like books , art objects and handicrafts...I can just go on buying without thinking twice...I really have to stay determined not to do so every time I step out for shopping...

Yes, I can't tolerate myself with books as well~(^^) I still remember when I just need to buy a book but spent around an hour at the book store and ended up with more than just a book~(^^) Now, every time I feel that I will overspend my money, I will no going to let myself to be in a book store.(^^)

HI sis! Me too not that good in controlling myself when shopping. That is why a list of things I need to buy is a must to me. Plus I will try to let myself bring the money just enough. Otherwise I will be like you but slightly different. Buy things that I want includes things that I don't need. Usually with the list with me I will not forget to buy them. Carry a debt card is quite dangerous right as we unconsciously overspend it. It is fine for me too like you said to splurge once in a while wehn we have some more money to do so~(^^)

When i go shopping I always make a list before hand, the way I used to shop is just randomly seeing something I like and buying it then getting to the checkout and being surprised that I went over budget. So yeah nowadays I just buy what I know I need, not what I want.

The way I do my shopping is make a list and while getting the things and put them in the trolley I will make my own calculation and do my own total price assumption. If it just around my budget then it's great otherwise I will need to put some of the things back on its shelves.(^^)

I usually set out of the house with a list of what I want to buy. I go a three storey shop where they sell everything from groceries to toiletries to poultry and meat to electronics etc. I just have to take a stroll from any aisle and I find a product which is not in my list. By the time I have gone through all the aisle where I will find the items on my list, Half or more of my basket is full of things that were not on my list. So making a list is also not very useful where not buying what I dont need is concerned.

If it is not effective to you at least the list will be a good reminder that you won't miss to buy things on the list. You get it just enough but eventually have more than you could imagine. Some people will use the shopping list technique to see whether they get all the things they wanted while others will use it to limit their expenses. You yourself should play the important role to determine whether the list will bring any good to you or not. If you really can't control yourself there is no way the list would help you to restrain yourself from shopping more and more.(^^)

There are times when I really want to buy what I want but I cant cause there's no budget for it. Anyway, I just buy whatever it is that I needed. Its very important to control a want or else a needs are going to be affected.

Yes, mostly I only shop for what I need especially for grocery. But when I go to a mall, often I went home with a new dress, a new pair of shoes or bag. Of course, I don;t really need them, but I found excuses to buy them.

Hello. I am on a very tight budget so what I buy now are the basics that I need at home. I always have a list with me whenever I go to the market so that I buy what I really need. I buy things that I want after I had save up

I do exactly the same like you. I need the shopping list so I could manage my budget efficiently. For those who are affordable to buy anything they want they might see this as unnecessary thing to do while its different to me. Like you mentioned above, only when there is balance and after save up some money maybe then we could buy things that we want~(^^)

I think it is a good idea to buy things we need. I also try to make a list of things that I need to buy and try to avoid things I do not want to buy. I think by doing so I will be able to save money and also need to buy things only I need. I think budgeting is one of the best way to save money.

We do our shopping monthly and it is really important for us to have a list as we really have tight budget for the household stuff. I can't imagine myself without the shopping list. We will eventually overspend the money if we don't have one.(^^)

I never make a list before I go shopping. I buy by impulse. I just go to the store and go down every aisle and buy what I like when I see it. Some thing I do know I need before I go into the store, like milk and bread, but most things I buy on impulse. The only time I have a list to go shopping is if I am making some special dish that I need to buy ingredients for. Then I will write it down or I will end up forgetting something I need as it would be something I don't normally buy on a regular basis. I do forget to buy the neccessities sometimes. Sometimes I go just for milk and bread and lunch meat and then come home with everything but what I needed. Then I end up going back because I need that something different for the recipe I am making or I end up scraping the recipe and making something else with what I have in the house and then I get upset with myself for not going back. hee hee Cheers, Chris

Hi Chrislotz! Hope you don't go over budget with it....(^^) When we are doing things repetitively like buy the monthly or weekly chores we get used with it and we normally do not need to have a list of things we need to buy. Everything is inside the head, we try to memorize it but we tend to forget some of the thing so to avoid it happen I always have my list in my hand just in case I forgot what to buy.

My husband and I don't have much money to play around with. Our budget is usually pretty tight. So, for the most part, we usually just try to get what we need, and keep an eye open for sales, and such. We would feel a lot better if we weren't on such a tight budget, but the fact of the matter is that we are, and we just deal with it as best as we possibly can.

Hi dodo! YEs, most of us from the middle class family we usually spend money within the budget to avoid problems in a future. For those who have more money they can simply buy anything they want but for others who have no chance to spend much they just buy things on the list and that is already more than enough. For me myself we should spend the money wisely not just spend it for thing we don't need.(^^)

We use to buy a lot of things that we never really needed or wanted when we went shopping, but now we do not. I try to work out all the meals that we are going to eat during the week and shop for what we need, as we are trying to save a lot of money, rather than waste it like we have been tending to do. If I see something that we use a lot of and it is less on the week that I go shopping, then I tend to add two of the things, in order to save a few pounds the rest of the month.

For meals we usually shop the ingredients weekly means we already have the menus for the entire week and like you we just shop what we need. Even if sometimes it really hard to resist the feeling to shop more but we have to face the fact that we have a tight budget to spend.(^^)

Hi bhebelen! It's good to practice making a grocery list before going to shop and make it as our habit if we have certain budget to follow. Eating something before shopping is a good idea. With this, we don;t have to stop by and eat outside.(^^)

Hi there ! It is my principle to buy only things that i need and limit my wants . I should not outlive my income because this will give trouble to our monthly budget but an exemption to this when it is my birthday . When it is my big day i usually reward myself for whole year i've been working hard and doing good deeds i guess i deserved a reward so i buy things that are my passion like slippers . I don't looked at the price . I bought it with a happy heart but the rest of the days i follow that certain rule and it is really effective because seldom i can run out of budget and getting of loans from here to there. Try it yourself friend !

Even for a special days I will lose the limit a bit but still need to make sure I don't overspend it.(^^) Don't worry, once in while I will check the balance and treat myself. I don't think we should be so stingy to ourselves. As long as we don't do that often and still know the limit, then why not?(^^)
