Would You Consider Going Vegetarian? This sounds like death sentence since I am carnivorous but I have tried veggie diet from my friends who are, and they cooked it nicely that mimics the taste of meat. It wasn't so bad at all but then I still miss eating meat is there anything like partially veggie? What are your thoughts on this?

I could if I had fresh veggies year round, but I don't and it is hard to make a good veggie dish unless it is fresh. Canned or frozen doesn't cut it. But I have gone without meat for a period of time and you should try it. It is better for you to eat less meat and get your protein from nuts...

Do you like chicken or fish? I wouldn't go straight to being a veggie diet if you are not use to it and chicken and fish, especially salmon is really good for your heart. Then you can slowly eliminate meat altogether if that is your goal.

Yes I have to Carmel since I have recently been diagnosed with a heart condition. It really would help to cut down on the meat. I tried for a day being veggie it feels light and I feel good but my taste buds are looking for meat and I feel salivating as I watch my family members eat meat! It was a torture!

Easier then it sounds, especially if you want to save money and not eat out, best not to "mimic" meat though. I have a "partially" vegetarian diet, I eat parts of the vegetables, for a part of my meal.... Seriously though, there are many degrees of Vegetarianism, Ovo-means you still eat eggs, Lacto means you still have milk, some people only swear off of red meats, others white, others everything but fish, it all goes to your personal preferences. Switching to a vegetarian diet takes a little planning, to replace nutrients not found in main stream vegetables, because our meat takes care of it, but load up on other kinds of high protein foods, such as Nuts, and certain grains, quinoa(keen-wah) has a higher protein per ounce count then beef, so it is a good choice. Aside from that, just go with what you like. Vegetarian is good, better then most other wacko health diets anyways, good like with what ever you choose. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

It is my pleasure to share what little I know, I noticed you have been recently diagnosed with a heart condition, and you found a vegetable diet a light affair. and like I mentioned, just get yourself a variety of Whole Grains. I do not know if Quinoa is available in the Phillipines, it gets imported from some where in south america, I do know that red and brown rice is better then white rice, and whole wheat pasta is a good starter switch, use the complex carbs, and again high protein substitutes, some fishes, and nuts and beans. and always have berries and honey with your oatmeal, cause that is tasty. Cheers.

Interesting...I haven't eaten pork in so long I don't remember the last time...other than bacon and sausage, of course...those don't count. (heeheeheee) When I want meat, I want beef! I avoid pork and lamb altogether as I just don't like the taste...although I have eaten them in recipes that I did like. Unless they are seasoned just right, though, this palate is just too sensitive for them.

Hiya candy, I need to eat a certain amount of meat at the moment I have been told that I need it. I donĀ“t whether to believe it altogether but every time I leave meat on one side it does not suit me. So I stick to Chicken and minced Beef and not too much of that either. I do eat a lot of White Beans, Lentils and Chick Peas so I have no problem eating less meat but not to do without it altogether. I am not a great meat eater anyway and never have been but I think a lot of care needs taking when switching from one thing to another.

Considering to become vegetarian is very thoughtful idea as it benefits both you and environment immensely. But it is definitely difficult. I think abstaining from meat altogether at once will not be a sustainable idea. You might want to incorporate more of vegetable and legume based products in your diet, get your body to be familiar of these new vegetarian things and then slowly reduce on non- vegetarian or meat products.

I guess if I had to I could make it work. I love hamburger and chicken. I know this sounds strange but I couldnt kill my own chicken or cows or pigs. As long as Its from the supermarket I can eat it. If It came down to having to kill and cure it, NO WAY.Vegeterian, Vegen, Here I come. lol dl

As much as I would like to say that I would, I don't think that I would consider becoming a vegetarian. I really do enjoy eating the occasional hamburger, or something like that. I don't think that I could go without eating meat or something. However, I still have to applaud those do it.

I don't think that this would be a comfortable lifestyle decision for me to make. I grew up in a family that placed a lot of emphasis on eating meat and even after my father had his first heart attack when I was a young girl, we still ate meat though at that point we started eating more chicken and turkey than we had previously. Now that I'm married with a family of my own there are times that we are able to do vegetarian meals, but at a certain point I still get to where I start really craving meat.

No, I certainly don't. I do not eat much meat, but I couldn't go totally vegetarian. Man is programmed to need meat also for a good functioning of the body. Especially when there is some health problems. That's why persons with chronic diseases, for example, must not fast. On the other hand, in case of some diet, short periods of vegetarian diet, may do some good.

Vegetarian or not, seems to go with culture and norms where you live. The concept of going vegetarian doesn't seem to exist in many European countries, Asia, and others. (I could be wrong and I don't know the statistics.) There are vegetarians in US for sure. I ever try to consider becoming a full time vegetarian, but managed to go part time. It's not easy if you are not in a vegetarian family. Whether or not you're vegetarian, what matters is healthy balanced diet. Once in awhile, it's not wrong to enjoy some junk food and some food hight in cholesterol as long as you consumed them in moderation.

I think it could make me a vegetarian, it would take a catastrophe to give up meat. This I could do if you are accustomed from a child to eat only meat that is healthier and in fact the man would have to be vegetarian, but we know that this does not happen, society, culture makes our meals containing around and sometimes even makes us evil, but because it is rich and we love do not care.

I could never be a vegetarian. I could not survive without meat. I also don't think people are meant to survive on fruits and vegetables alone. We need protein from meats and eggs.

Hello Candyfairy21, My response to your topic is a BIG yes. I will consider to go vegetarian. Aside from the fact that we all know, that vegetables are healthy food and contributes a lot for us to have a healthy body, these foods are also less expensive as compared to meat. Not to mention, if you are going on diet, vegetable is one of the best food to eat.

I don't think I can do too because I love chicken and beef. However, I did try the food you are talking about and it doesn't taste right. My mom and I had it for lunch one day and we could not finish it. It looks like it has meat in it but the taste was still soya.

No! no! No! Definitely not. . . because I don't eat vegetables. I think people who are vegetarians are missing a lot but of course I respect their decision and I even envy them in a way that they can control themselves. They are very disciplined.

dear, you can stay healthy even if you are a vegetarian. Nature have various good things to eat.Why to kill anything for just eating for the taste. If you want I can tell you good vegetarian diets or else I can suggest you to read some book to really know about the benefits of the vegetarian diet. thanks
