The biggest things that I've noticed with our family that have made a big difference in the year since we've been living a much more frugal life are: 1) Shop with a shopping list and try not to deviate from that list. 2) Buy store brands as much as possible. 3) When shopping for clothes, check out the thrift and resale stores first. 4) Don't really worry about what other people think because in the future you will be out of debt and they will still be struggling.

I have to get into thrift shopping for sure. My sister is a great one for this. She can go into the good will or salvation army and search through all the clothes to find bargains.

I really liked the last tip, dorannmwin, I think many people don't even think about that!

I'm pretty sure that most people don't think about it. However, there have been times that I've been down on myself and I always come back to that. I think it is the one thing that is really able to keep me motivated through it all.

i suggest saving water and electricity - this will cut down a lot on your biggest monthly bills (plus it also does good for our environment). also be a wise spender by asking yourself "do i NEED this? NOW?" before buying something or anything. also shop on cash, not credit cards.

I try my best to do cash and carry as well. I think it saves tons in the long run.

visit and make use of your local library! you can get movies, books, music cd's and some libraries even have games that you can borrow. most libraries are free or quite cheap to join.

There are several things that I do that help me to be a frugal person. I shop at dollar stores a lot for things like cards and gift bags. I also use coupons for as much stuff as I possibly can. I buy things that I need when they are on sale and stock up when they are on sale. I also refuse to buy name brand things if they are more than the store brand.

Well, you need to be a real scrooge and keep being that way... You'll find that most rich people actually do that in order to be rich... Here are some of my suggestions: 1) Always have a monthly budget, and make sure that you have money to save. 2) Cut down on buying branded products, you can always buy the store brands. 3) Never shop when you are hungry. 4) Always have a shopping list. 5) Never impulse buy. 6) Eat at home. It's cheaper and cleaner and healthier. 7) Settle your debts as soon as possible and as much as you can. 8) Stop using your credit cards unless they give you reward points and you can pay it back in 20 days. 9) Always get your change back, a few coins will amount to dollars by the end of the month! These are some of my tips, good luck with frugal living.
